Your tranny lines are routed through the radiator, adding a hayden cooler uses the lines going in and out of the radiator, cooling it before it goes into the rad

The external tranny cooler that most of us use is an add-on to that, it's not going to help slippage though.

Tranny cooler beneficial?
Man this is a great forum! I've only had the car for a day and I have already learned so much about it through this board.
As you'll see from my various posts I am a litle inquisitive and was wondering
Would a secondary tranny cooler (B&M, Comptech or the like) be beneficial for a cold climate (read: Toronto Canada)? Would it not over cool in the winter which as I understand it is a bad thing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated for a 1st day Cl-s owner.
Thanks

Why would you cool it BEFORE it goes into the radiator? Your supposed to tap into the line that's going back to your transmission for better cooling. It's more effective.

for the guy in canada: the BM line might be better for cooler climes because it incorporates a system bypass for cooler fluid till it heats up. brochure link: http://www.dana.com/Automotive_Syste...04_Website.pdf

I worked at UHaul for a while as a hitch pro, so part of my job was installing Tranny coolers. And we were always taught to tap the return line. It's not bad to tap into the "in" line, its just not as efficient because the fuild will go into the radiator already colder than the radiator itself is.
