Engine starting question

I have been noticing this with my car recently. When it gets down to about 1/4 of a tank of gas and below, it takes an extra 2-3 seconds of cranking to start the car. I might add that this happens when the engine is cold, or hot and on all hill slopes -> nose facing up, down or sideways. Was wondering if anyone has the same thing happen??

maybe fuel pump going/dirty fuel fileter??

BTW, where is the fuel filter in the 3.0?

I just got my cl... noticed the same thing on the 2 tanks of gass i've run thru it. anything below a 1/4 tank turns over 3-4 more times before starting.

FWIW the manual says to always run the car with mor ethan a 1/4 tank of fuel, so i'm betting this is normal/common.

If you turn your key to II and wait for like 3 seconds for the fuel lines to pressurize, the engine starts up immediately. Still, I like to keep my tank above 1/4.

The fuel filter is located along side of the firewall towards the driver side. If you take a pic of your engine bay, I can show you.

Also the fuel pump is located in the rear of the tank, making it more difficult to start facing downhill.

The fuel pumps are a pain, and get really grumpy when trying to start when cold or low on fuel, it's normal with most cars truthfully

I've not had any starting issues, but definately keep your tank better than half... helps to cut down on humidity in the tank. As for the fuel filter, on the 3.0 it is on the back firewall on the passenger side. You will see it as a cylinder with two lines attatched to the top with preasure fittings. it is held on by two bolts, if I remember correctly.
