Engine Replacement

Am i right in believing that if you replace the stock engine on our cars and the car is an automatic, if you put in a Japanese engine will it turn it into a 5 spd. because i keep hearing, "if you get this engine you get --hp plus the 5spd. whats this mean! please help?!?
thanks.

engine replacement

I wasn't asking what 5spd means, i was asking if you replace your engine does it turn your automatic into a stick? because people are saying "you get the 5spd" shouldn't they already have one?

you can get a manual trans.. you need to get a manual center console for the shifter so it has room.. or just cut your center console into a big square.. and you need to hang a clutch.. its work so don't think your just going to drop a new engine in and magically have a 5spd

So am i going to have to replace the transmission and the engine or can i keep the stock transmission. Or can i just replace the transmission for a stick and put a turbo in. Does anyone know how much this will cost me for installation? Or even how much new transmissions cost if all i have to do is replace that to get the 5spd?

Well you cant just replace the engine and expect your auto to change to manual so yes you would have to replace your transmission as well. As far as changing your auto to a manual it probably isnt worth all the money it would cost. Im not even sure you can do it on the 3.0
