Engine louder after timing belt work?

I got my timing belt matinenance done and afterwards, my engine sounds louder and you can feel it more in the gas pedal and shifter. I don't think this is right. It gets especially louder around 2.5K RPMs than before I had the work done.

I have a 1997 2.2CL Manual.

Anyone know if this is not right and what the possible problems might be?

um... why wouldn't you feel it more in the gas pedal and shifter? Chances are your car wasnt very tuned or well maintained before hand and now that the works been done its working better.

About it getting louder around 2.5k, not quite sure. Is it a whining sound coming from near the belts? Or is it just engine sounding a bit louder?

I notice mine "whirrs" a bit more when I get up into higher RPMS. I didn't really pay attention to what the engine sounded like before I got the timing belt done, so I'm not sure if they're related.
