My check engine light is on and they said it is because of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) insuffcient flow. The guy said the EGR is for filtering out emissions and stuff. So mine isnt getting enough flow. What cause this and how do I fix it?

Does that not cover the 98s dustbuster? That stinks. I think my cat has fooked up. ( funky burning smell from the exhaust...)

 

the EGR will make your exhaust smell funny, well at least before I got mine done i smelt something funny. I would take it to the dealer, most likely you can do the egr for free and just tell them to do it, since you check the code, and if it is, then just get it done for free, look at dustbusters link too

 

Def got a funny smell going on up in there...like burning dust off a heater or that smell of up inside a hair dryer on high. No check engine light tho do i dunno? The thing about dustbuster link is that it's for up to 97...I have a 98. I'm thinking it's gonna cost me some $$$ to get rid of this...

They will do it for free!!!! They also did mine for free 2 months ago. Most likely its the manifold that needs to be cleaned and the egr will also be replaced for free.

 

would this apply in Canada aswell?
sorry for bringin up a old thread but i got the same dilli with teh check engine light and they told me it was the EGR valve.

 

I bought my car without warranty. I have 80000 miles on it. Can I still get mine fixed for free???

 

My guess is NO in Canada since the agreement was between American Honda and the US Environmental Protection Agency/CARB (California). I'd still check with a dealer.




Dreamdtt2000: You're covered up to 150K miles even if any warranty you had, has expired (or had no warranty at all). Because you are the current owner, you're covered up to 150K miles.
