Dr. Evil Tranny

I know that many people on this board have talked about the Dr. Evil Transmissions, but I want to find out who has actually bought and installed one in a 1st gen 3.0.

Did you get the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level of mods?

How does it compare to a properly working OEM tranny (shift quality, drivability, etc)?

as far as I know, no one here has gotten the dr evil for their 3.0's. Only 6th gen accords have gotten the dr evil. I suggest going over to www.v6performance.net and searching the 6th gen accord v6 forums for dr evil and they have all you need to know there.

from what I remember reading though: shifts are a lot firmer and faster. slight grinding noise when turning due to LSD. disappears after 1000 or so miles. much better traction due to lsd. better throttle response.

wrong! and wrong!

do a search on dr evil here adn you'll see my post about the internals being compatible. They go for $4500, but if you tell them you were refered by v6performance.net, they will knock it down to $4000, it takes about 2-3 weeks to build, and is a direct bolt on tranny. If you get it for a 3.0CL you MUST specify that so they can make the minor changes needed for the CL.

Last time I called and checked, they said that they were not currently offering a rebuild for the 3.0 cl. Has this changed? Did you speak to some one over the phone?

If so, I'm going to inquire to get a rebuild kit again from them with the upgraded torque converter.

I spoke to them over email, here's how it went:

comments: I had been looking into getting a transmission for my J30A1
engine from Dr Evil for a little over a year now, and was initially
under the impression that the transmission for the accord V6 would work for
my application as well due to being identical engines. However, recently
I was told that the transmissions between the two cars are different.
apparently the mounting points are different or something along those
lines, and it would not work for my particular application.

This may be the case, but what is for sure is that the "rebuild kit"
for both of the transmission are the same. implying that at least SOME of
the internals are the same. I would think it would be the gearsing and
clutch packs that are teh same and truthfully that's all I'm really
concerned about.

My question here is if I were to send in my transmission to you would
you be able to replace the parts that are shared between the two
transmissions? The key parts being the torque convertor and the
gearing/clutch packs. this would allow me to not worry about any sort
of fitment issues.

If this is possible, approximately how much would it cost. If not,
why not?

Thanks in advance.
their reply:
The 2 transmissions are from the same family and the parts can be interchanged.

The converter would be sent to our converter company and turned into a
HD unit just like what we use in the Accord's that we have done.

Build time on your transmission is 2-3 weeks.

50% deposit to start work.

We look forward to being of service to you.

We remanufacture while other companies rebuild.

my response:
> Would all the parts be able to be interchanged? Or at
least most of them? If so would the pricing be
exactly the same as for the accord transmission? I was
told $4000-$500 V6P discount = $3500? If this is the
case I am very interested and definitely look forward
to business with your company.
their reply:
The standard price is $4500.00
The V6 discount is $500.00
Net price is $4000.00
Core deposit is $500.00
Shipping is determined by state.

We can build the unit exactly the way we build the Accord units.

Have a Happy Easter

too bad it's only at the front wheels, but that would still be hawt. I need to get out of college too. I am working to live and going to school, so I'll need to postpone school somewhat, so it willtake 2 more years instead of 1. oh well. I'll be making bank afterwards, and fucktard w. bush won't be pres anymore.

the only difference between the accord 3.0 tranny and ours is the end cap is bigger, due to some internals being different sizes. but if u put our end cap on that tranny it will fit perfectly.

Would it not be cheaper to swap to a J35a with the 6 speed or can that not even be done? Just wondering?

So I'm guessing the accord tranny would fit perfectly and bolt up if you just switched the caps?

probably. well that certainly broadens up the tranny replacement spectrum. It'll be a lot easier to find an accord tranny at a junkyard.

dont get me wrong they are different, but only on the inside. all the sensors and mounting plates are the same with the exception of the end cap.

well what about the internals are different? nothing too major right? If we were to just replace the endcap, and slap it onto a CL what would happen?
