has any one ever had problems with their door check.

my shit is making this loud ass noise.

it seems as if the hinge behind the a-pillar is mobile.

is it a weld or a bolt?

the dealer is giving me a hard time over the phone and i dont feel like driving

all the way out there.

What kind of noise is it? What's a door check?

 

the door check is teh mechanism that makes the door stop at intervals.

if there was no door check the door will swing open and close easily.

u know when u open the door and there are positions where it is stationary.

that is because of the door check. mine functions but at the stations that it is supposed to

stop at, it stops but CLICKS really loud. the hinge connects to something behind the pillar .

i dont know how to get to it .

is it a loud old cadillac door squeaking/rubbing sound.? if so spray some lithium grease on it. itll go away.

 

nah it was broken. it needed to be welded back together

the hinge sort of snapped

 

that sucks.

I have the same problem with my 99 cl. the hinge makes a popping noise when you open and close it. I would tink this needs to be stationary but probably has become loose. Looks like it needs to welded as dragon084 did. It is annoying but 350 seems a bit pricey.

 

dragon084, do you pictures from the body shop?

 

there's nothing to see. i havent been here in ages.

but yeah, what the did was cut a hole and rewelded the sucker back on.

it required them painting my doorjam which is why it was expensive.
