Cost to Refill Nitrous Bottle

Sorry for the mega-newbie question... I tried searching the site and couldn't find an answer. What is the price range to refill a nitrious bottle? (Say, the ZEX size bottle). I understand actual use might be about 3 minutes on that bottle for a 2.2 engine.

Also, can I leave the bottle "on" all of the time and just purge before each use? Or do I NEED to buy the remote valve to open it and close it after each use? (Sounds like a pain in the arse if I do).

Thanks,

Thomas

$4 a pound here.

Dont know about the opening issue. I know the extreme bottle pressures that they run will tend to leak very easy. I think the opening/closing of the bottle is to minimize leakage.

The purging is to rid the system of "stale" gas.

I pay $4.00 per pound.

The Zex bottle is 10 lbs.

Don't leave the bottle open; the N2O will leak out. I just open the bottle each time I'm out cruising (looking for a race--which is about everytime I get in the car). I may get the remote bottle opener, but haven't decided ($$$ is going elsewhere right now).

Budget

Great information, thanks!

What is your budget per month, do you go through 10 lbs a month? 5 lbs?

(Trying *very* hard to talk myself OUT of NO2... losing the battle thus far...)

your engine will be a junkie in a few years. spraying like that is gonna tear your engine apart. spraying to much no2 will fuck your car up in the long run.

Dustbuster your crazy. I don't use that much nitrous in a year and its so much cheaper to fill up a bottle here.
Thomasio to answer your question it cost $25 in Miami to fill up a 10 lbs. bottle which is how much nitrous the zex bottle holds.

so will a turbo, SC, or just driving hard, whats your point? And it's n2o. It's not gonna tear his motor apart if he takes the proper precautions. But like any mod it's gonna put more stress on the engine.
