Comptech Icebox

Is the Icebox from Comptech just as nice as any other Cold Air Intake? except you dont have to get a bypass valve, right? since its encased and all

and would hte Icebox for the 98-02 Accord V6s fit into the engine bay of my car also?

The Icebox is QUIET compated to an AEM/Injen intake. It's louder than stock, but only when you get on it. Should have comparable gains.

The 98-02 AEMs fit, I can't see why the Icebox wouldn't unless it's just too big.

obviouslly itrs a comptech charger, but my friend worked for Acura for a year and a half and said that the engine bays in the 1997 3.0s were too small for the blowers, and you could only fit them in the 98s and up

The Icebox fits fine in the CL, the only thing is the mounting brackets and such don't line up. Basically, you have to just let the icebox sit in there. Although, Its pretty easy to fabricate some mounts.

What about the Volant intake. IMO That system looks alot better.

Comptech

But in all honesty, what's the difference? The Comptech uses a flat intake instead of a cone. It looks bigger, but that's about it. Isn't that basically the same as the OEM airbox plus a highflow filter....aka K&N?

of course, i didnt see any Volants for CL's.. but that looks like a CL in the picture, based on the location of the box, and the wires over that plastic plate right after the throttle body..

am i mistaken? do they make them for us?

The Comptech is NOT a flat filter. The flat filter shown on their site is the drop in for the STOCK air box. The Icebox uses a cone filter. The air horn directs the air up into the box, where it's sucked in by the cone.

The stock airbox does not take in air from below the bumper. It takes air in from right infront of the box. Ya know, the nice heated air out of the radiator. It bends down under the box and back up, impeding airflow. It also has two resonators that cut the noise produced.

I tried ordering that back in November. I found out that they don't make the V6 Accord model (it is listed). I paid, the order went through to Volant... and Volant told them it was not available. Them bastards!!!
