Check Engine Light -> code 22?

The check engine light came on today in my 99 CL 3.0 with 24k miles. Used the paper clip trick to extract the diagnostic code and found it to be 22. Anybody know what this code means? Can't find any info about it on the net.

Two weeks ago I installed a AEM ram air and AEM under drive pulleys. Could this be a factor? The car was running fine before the check engine light came on.

Thanks

The AEM pulleys are good. Kinda expensive. The engines revs more freely with the under drive pulleys. Probably 2 - 3 hp gain - just a guess.

The pulleys were $155. I did the install. The power steering pulley is pretty easy to change. To take off the alternator pulley you need a 24mm wrench and a 55mm torx socket. You need to change both belts during the process. To replace the power steering belt you need to remove the left motor mount bolts and lift up the motor enough to sqeeze the belt through:shakehd:.

Welcome!

It's nice to have another Montgomery County member on the board!

I looked on niedejb's site and didn't see a code 22 listed. You may want to send him a PM. Good Luck!

No 22 in my manual.

Could it be something else?

12 is the EGR malfunctioning.

Instructions on how to find out the check engine light code.
Underneath your glove compartment there is a blue connector. It is towards the passenger side of the car. After you find it it must be unconnected. Once it is disconnected get a paper clip and connect one end of the paper in one hole and the other end in the other hole. Next put your key in the ignition and turn it to II (not all the way on) while the paper clip is in both holes of the blue connector. The check engine light will turn off for a second and then blink the engine code for the problem. Long flashes are 10 and short flashes are ones. Ex. you see 6 long flashes and 5 short flashes= engine code 65. If you don't see it the first time don't worry it will repeat over and over until the car is turned off. Once you get the code turn the car off

you have to be careful with the codes. for the Honda prodicts they go all the way into the 4 digits. it could be 2234 for ex.. the manufactures use specific codes above the standard 1-99. something of 4 digits could be manufacturer or car specific. i would take it and get it checked out a t a shop that has a dedicated OBDII scanner.

that is the only thing i can think of if you cant find the code on your own.

These only show with an OBDII scanner, not the paper clip. THe four digit codes have two digit equivelant for the paperclip thing.

Thanks for the info niedejb and 1genCL . If it comes on again I'll just have to bring it in.

Hey dustbuster4, have you ever run at 75 & 80?

thats the secondary o2 sensor, its 50/50 as to if your o2 sensor is bad or the cat is bad.. you might want to find out and make sure the cat isnt bad cause if it is you will destroy your motor.

to answer your question disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes. and it will go away.
