Ok, so I previously had a Bosal Brospeed Exhaust and header on my '99 2.3L MT and had no problems. This week I added an AEM Short Ram air intake and as soon as I did the Check Engine light came on. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this type of problem, or if it is just a coincidence?

 

yeah my check engine light just came on recently and my car seems to be running fine so i dont understand y it came on...i do kno that my catalytic converter needs to be changed..might be tha O2 sensor..

 

it has been suggested to me that I might need to reset my ecu?

 

try starting the car and pulling the ecu fuse i have heard diff things about that works or doesnt hope it does

 

so which one is the ecu fuse? it isn't labeled or I don't know what the label is on the top of the fuse box.

 

my check engine light came out a week before my tranny went out on me

i bring it to shop they said just drive it and if it comes back on then bring it back in they like reset it . then sure enuff 5 days later light pops on 2 min later clunk and slippin and stuck on the side of the road...

 

When I got mine, the check engine light was on. Upon further investigation we found that the intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower) needed to be replaced. Since they were leaking it was sucking in unfiltered air. The EGR valve and all of the intake manifold was clogged with carbon build up. 1,000 out of the dealers pocket, not mine!

 

so you need to pull the fuse while the car is running? the ECU fuse??? hmmm.... sounds good to me I installed AEM cai and my light is on whew I found the radio security code on the side of the glove compartment box... haha good things because the original dealer wiped the database and I didn't feel like pulling out the stereo to find the serial code.
