Changing my brakes soon to...
Cross drilled and/or slotted....
I recently felt a slight wobble during braking recently... I guess it was cause SlyTLS, ShoofinTL', Melo72 and myself ran hard home from NJ meet and with all the a$$holes out sundsay I was brakin hard.. anyway...
Which do you guys think is better?! I know they have ones that are both cross drilled and slotted now and I am leaning that way... any preferences.. if so why... If you have links by chance or good brands at good $$$ hook a brother up.. Your info is appreciated!!!!![Confused](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)

The cross drilled get my vote for aesthetics. I couldn't tell you about performance on either. Comptech has a decent price. Been looking around and their hard to beat. This email is from a place that'll plate em too. Cant quite justify $300 for the same size rotors. If they were 13's I'd do it.
Front crossdrilled or slotted rotors for your CL 2.2 are $57.99ea, front KVR
pads are $61.99set, rear drilled or slotted rotors are $66.99ea and rear
pads are $61.99set. Cadmium plating is also available on rotors in silver,
black or gold for $15 per rotor.
Thank you,
Mason

cross drilled help with cooling which makes ur rotors last longer cuz of lowr temps. and less brake pad fade also. slotted increases stopping much better. u can get slotted and cross drilled in the same rotor. if u just get slotted they will run even hotter under use. im pretty sure this is right. i just read about this a day or two ago.

One thing to consider when you are upgrading your brakes. I believe that the rotor size is very important. If you wanted to upgrade and have been braking performance, then you have to get a larger sized rotor with cross-drilled/slotted. The problem with getting them the same size as your regular brakes and getting them drilled is that you are taking away from the braking surface, which would give you negative braking.
As for the info above from SOHCer, you have to remember that the 2.2 and the 3.0 CL's have different brakes. They make brakes for the 2.3 and 2.2, but rarely for the 3.0. On NOPIonline, they have the stock rotor sized crossdrilled brembo rotors. You can try it out and get better calipers which might make the brake feeling much better. Oh, another thing to consider for your brakes are the lines. Try and get the SS or see if you can find the carbon fiber brake lines. I hear that that improves on the feel.
Oh one more thing before I stop rambling, the above stuff that I said about the size and stuff, I am pretty sure that that is how it goes, but I may be wrong. Don't get me wrong, it does vent the brakes so they don't get so hot, but you are taking away from the braking surface.
Good luck, let me know what you decide and how it goes.

well, i was looking for a cross drilled and slotted rotor set(front & rear) and new dust free perrformance pads... I didnt think changing the lines would be drastic... I was considering going 13" with comptecxh set up but then for $2000.00 there go the chance for headers anytime soon... Anyone know of a company with cross drilled/slotted rotors for decent $$$$... I may just have to do a piece at a time.. what you think?

Well as for brake kits that fit for us, there really isn't anything else that is a big brake kit other than the brembos. I was going to either do the brembos, get new wheels, get the comptech headers, exhaust & springs, or get the Clifford AvantGuard 4 alarm system.
Not sure what to go with

Hey Casp! I put cross drilled & slotted rotors on my Si. There was a night and day difference in stopping distance & feel. They stopped so much better than stock. I paid about $320 for all four and they were from Powerslot.
PowerSlot
I didn't upgrade anything else. They were totally worth the $$$. That car had no ABS and the brake grabbed so well that I locked them up twice right after I got them installed, had to re learn the braking point.

Rotors? Check these out...
http://secure15.dellhost.com/~d30022...ss_drilled.htm
or try these
http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/ebc/rotors.jsp
I would stay away from the powerstop as they have a tendency to warp with high performance pads... That is if you are a speed racer and do a lot of high speed braking...
Dust free pads? Try EBC Green Stuff...
Peace.

The second link doesn't have anything for the 98 3.0 CL, but the first link does. They have a combo, cross-drill/ slotted rotors for $179 a pair!!!
Casper, you gonna check these out or wait for the Brembo kit?

Anyway, they were the same size as the factory set, only drilled & slotted! And like I said before, night & day difference!!
Good Luck!!

I plan on getting new rotors very soon, and A&H (ahmotor.com) has PowerStops for my 2.3 for about $100 each.
I have heard that slotted rotors (as opposed to cross drilled) warp easier and wear out quicker (because as the rotor surface wears down, the slots become less and less effective).
Does anyone know of any reasons not to just put cross drilled on the front and leave the rear rotors stock?
