do you want a real one or just a high flow one? i bought a high flow one for 50 bucks, i dont know how much other catalytic converters cost, but i remember that it was about $500 from the dealership, but you have to install yourself, but thats easy. if you can get away with a highflow cat, i would get that. And if you have less than 100,000k mileage, i think its still under warrenty if the exhuast system hasn't been tampered with.

the one that i bought was a 94-97 accord catalytric converter, im sure yours being a 98 should be the same, but the one i bought for 50 bucks was a highflow one, so it really doesn't do anything, its just a straight through stainless steel pipe, i bought because my cat was making grinding noises when i drive. but the racing i got wouldn't pass the smog test, and the check engine light will say on unless you get a sensor trick. so depending on why you need it asap, i can't really tell you what to get unless you explain why you need one. if you need it for the smog test, you can try to buy it from an online store but unless someone reccomends you to a site, i would buy it from for the dealership for $500. and i wouldn't buy one used, they really dont last long, atleast not long enough to pass the smog test.

and im pretty sure it was 100k, even if its not, its still under 80k so you should be fine, but any tampering like replacing an exhaust will void the warranty. and being a 97, im sure you've already done that, unless you live down south where the exhuast doesn't touch salt when it snows. i am not toally sure about that void part, i need someone to verify or just call the acura dealership and ask, because i believe messing with the exhaust system voids the warrenty, but not completly sure.

rochester in the buildin'!!

I don't think that voids a warranty. exhausts go bad all the time. changing that is a normal occurance. now the cat is another issue. aftermarket cats don't do the same thing as factory 'cuz they change the whole engines performance.
but exhausts don't void warranties.

^ My guess would be the 94-95 one but I don't know for sure. My cat went out a week ago and sounds horrible when I drive. I tried calling Acura today to see if it is covered under warranty. My car is a 99 2.3 with 88,900 miles. The warranty booklet that came with my car says that Catalytic Convertors are warrantied up to 7 yrs or 70,000 miles. I was trying to call Acura to see if for some reason they had an extended warranty or would cover it even after the mileage like they do on trannies. Well after being on hold twice for 15 minutes they hung up on me both times. Typical suck ass service. I'm sure they wouldn't cover it anyway.

The warrenty for your catalytic converter is covered to 80K, after that they will not replace it. What sucks for me is that when i called my car had just rolled over 81K. You can find them online for around 300-400 bucks. Not a cheap part but beats 500 at a stealership.

had to get oem, had to make sure to pass smog, and no engine check light. Paid $280 for cat @ Acura Dealer, then $15 for install.

There was a thread about this awhile back and i forget the starter of it, but there was a letter from Acura and i think dustbuster posted the letter. So i called my dealership and they told me that the emissions system was only covered up to 80K after that you were on your own. Dont think it is extended for the 3.0 but i could be wrong.
