1st what ever happened to the old members I remember the only ones I really see are 1gen, rmstoico, Casper and a few others

2nd I love this forum except for one thing if you let people know what you are doing they will either copy or get it done sooner

3rd If you got something you are doing and dont want it done sonner than you dont let people know I learned that lesson

4th I cant think of anything else oh yeah isnt it kinda annoying that newbies still asked the same questions even when that sticky was up

people will always "borrow" good ideas, thats just everywhere.

most of the other OG members are tied up with jobs, have gotten booted, or switched their cars.

I'm always interested in new ideas. However, we're all here for the same reason (we all drive CL's) and that could be considered "copying" an idea.

To each their own.

 

Why is it copying.. their are thousands of us on this board.. if people think that others may have the same idea, do things before, the same time or after each other than they are ignorant.

If you have an idea that you thinkn is only yours and want it to be that way forever, than my only suggestion is never post on this board... that will be the only way and even then you are garaunteed to see some CL drive by you with the same things done!

Im sure alot of the newbies that come here looking for help arent fully aware how to use the forum for searching and such. They are just here learning, the same way we all were when we first joined.

 

im not saying ideas cant be copied I posted in the other thread about the guy with the skyline front end that I dont mind if people do the same thing I guess im just trying to say I am trying to be original if someone copies it thats fine as long as I know i was the first kinda stupid but I just want to be original

Yeah car talk isnt nearly as good as our little forum. There are a lot of newbie questions that can get annoying after awhile but most of the time i really dont mind them unless the same topic they post is like three threads down. I know you all kinda like the "Indiglo" and "which CAI fits" questions, makes us seem smart when we answer and boosts that ever so important ( ) post count

 

We're all here to share ideas and learn stuff.
I can't remember the # of emails I used to get about the modified Integra clear bumpers(before they made them for the CL), M3 Mirrors, and the Indiglo Gauges I got on my car way back when I first put up my website and there was no www.acura-cl.com

I see stuff here lately I didn't think of or maybe not want to think of doing to my car. But its all good, we drive 1st-gen CL's, that's unique in itself. When it first came out people didn't like it and felt the taillights looked weird. Take a look around these days and our 1G CL don't look so weird anymore. Hell, I like its looks better than the 2nd gen!

I've only been here 3 months, and have learned a lot.

In most cases, I don't mind answering the same question several times!

If I don't feel like looking at, or responsing to, (let's say) the 3 identical threads on "What Springs are the Best", I just ignore them. Anyway, someone will probably get something out of it!

 

I'm a rookie too, and yes I asked those same damn stupid questions as all the newbies did. After getting yelled at, I learned to either use the search function, or just PM the shit outta people like Dustbuster4. Offer something in return for their help and develop friendships such as you guys have.

I learned a lot about my car and a lot about the people who drive them, and I thank you guys for it, but also, give the newbies a break - we all were there at one point, even if it was a long time ago.

 

not tryin to hate on the newbies just kinda a pain when they ask a question that is already been asked in a pest below theres but hey your right we were all there i was just in a wierd mood earlier

 

all I can say is that I love my car. I am going to keep it until it dies. Also, I have gotten so much good info from this forum.

Since we are talking about some of the old members, who here remembers roger's little message board before a-cl.com? I remember CLPower was on it along with COOLMAN, CLDriver i believe and niedejb i believe. There was someone else who has a low green cl with little fog lights too. Not sure what happened to roger. His site just went down one day. He had a red CL with Momo sports and red leather i believe for anyone who remembers. Oh i think my name on there was just "Patrick" in case you dont remember my very original name of 1StGenCL.

Yeah... rogers site just disappeared. Kinda funny... it was a good beginner forum and I would never come to acura-cl.com cuz it was all 2nd geners talkin about what color tint they wanted.

Speaking as a newbie, the search function isn't all that confusing (here's where I set myself up for some sh!t about some thread about center console gaps from last May)
It seems like just about every topic was already covered at some point, though, so original threads might be fewer and farther between than we'd like. Which makes newbies like me resort to post-whoring, ala what you are reading. j/k of course:P
