brake light sensor on the fritz?????

Looks like my brake light sensor is on the fritz. When I accelerate my brake light goes on. It's been getting worse (going on with lighter acceleration). Is this sensor in the center consol? Any tricks to replacing it? Cost of the puppy?

Thanks!!!

top off your brake fluid resev. and check your pads to make sure your not in need of new ones.

It could be the sensor, but I doubt it.

I agree with dulux, 1st check to see if you need brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir.

check the reservoir it is low, you can tell because when you accelerate it causes the fluid to shift backwards which sets off the sensor.

if you have to top it off then you most likely have yourself a leak.

I would not say that you have a leak because as your pads wear down your calipers are depressed therefore your fluid level drops as you wear your pads. When you put in new pads and reset your calipers your fluid level will go back up. Hence a leak is not likely. People usually have to top off their res. a few months or longer after they had their brakes done depending on driving habits and brake use.
