Best Speakers?

What is the best speaker/deck combo? (for a decent price), I'de like to upgrade my car stereo, but I'd hafta do it in pieces. So, I'de do a deck/speakers first, then sub/amp....

I like bass, but I also like sound quality in the mid-high range. So, i'm lookin for some speakers that sound good.

Thanks

jl makes good stuff but it is by no means the only good company out there.. if you dont mind, how much are you looking to spend?

also will you be doing the install or a shop?

are you looking for custom work to be done or stuff that fits in the stock locations?

alpine makes very nice head units that are easy to adjust and can compensate for less than perfect speaker placements.

also why not use the AV forum

Alpine makes great decks, but seem to a bit pricier than others. Pioneer would be a good choice also for head units. For midrange I prefer Diamond Audio, but the best are Focals which are more epensive.

I like MBQuarts and Eclipse or RF decks ... my buddy has a 12 speaker set up in his truck with 10 MBQuarts and a newer RF head unit .... so clear no matter how loud ... those are now my favorites, but they are kinda expensive ... but some of their speakers arent that expensive

No one goes to the AV forum... I like you guys more on this forum

I was thinkin about 200-300 for the headunit, and.... to be honest, I know don't know much about speakers, so..... enough

That also answers the "will I be installing it"...no, professional installation.

So, best set of speakers....not subs...that still have a decent amout of bass, and good mid's-high's

I wouldn't pay more than 350 for a component set, and i dont even think i'd pay that.

Those speakers probably blow the doors off of anything JL makes, or mb, or mmats.

those focals are sick, but damn they are a grand!

< that'd be me when you put the music to 3 notches below highest level with focals

WOW im floored, as an audio engineer firstly. HertZ, focal is good consumer based proven speakers, far better then JL, Infinitys ALOT of people hate, i personally think there tweeters are far to bright.

if you want to start talking real Sq think, Morel, ScanSpeak, Seas, Peerless, and running active crossovers.

Just my opinion

Seriously - what is your deal? No one cares that you took a class at your local best buy and now you consider yourself a "car audio engineer". This is the third thread you searched out that was long dead and added little to no value to.

everyone has their own opinion and this isn't a very good thread to draw opinions from seeing as it's 3 years old and most people you're trying to argue with aren't here anymore.

class at best buy? try a 3 year university coarse, and over 2000 Co-Op hours in a recording studio.

and and i wasn't looking to argue, i was just saying the best are not consumer based. consumer based trends. alpine doesn't make a component worthy of being called, even there prestige F1 status stuff is made by scanspeak, and there crossovers proto-types were made by my graduating class, alpine doesn't have the ability to make anything of there own, sure it could be to save money, and im sure it is, but there quality is degrading in ALL entry-mid range products, anyone who argues that should go take a shower with a toaster.

sure i may not be an engineer yet. Im in my first year. but i do have my B.s.A which is a 2 year program done in one.

and i plan on finishing with a electronic engine ring degree to
