As long as it is fastened securely and you don't submerge your car, you should be all right. Talk about a ghetto ass intake setup. haha

stuck it in the hole? Is it even secure? It'll work but doesn't sound like it's mounted very well.

if you took out the top of the box and replaced it witha cone filter that is attached to your stock intake pipe, i dont see it being that much of big deal. you just created a short ram. I've see a few people do that, it aint half bad.

^ doesn't seem like a good idea to me, as the part of the filter that you put in there would be softer rubber, therefore colapsable so you can attach it on a intake pipe and ziptie it down. But if it's on the inside then wouldn't it have the same tendency to collapse and fall out of the intake pipe? just my only concern, but as long is you can't pull the filter out of the intake pipe easily then it should be fine.
Unless i completely misunderstood your post, then my bad. and it is a good idea

are ebay intakes really that expensive now?

oh and i think i have the authority to post those pics for you, just cuz i've been here for a while and know all the secrets to this stuff

it's like magic

yeah i'd just be worried about it falling out, is the filter rubber end inside the intake pipe or outside the intake pipe?
and for images, just place your link inbetween these image tags [IMG] place link here, no spaces [/IMG]

Nothing wrong with what you did. I only suggest you take out the rest of the stock box and silencer. And buy a clamp at Home Depot for about a buck to replace your zip ties.

To the right of your battery, there's still parts left. This requires you to take part of the inner fender off to get to some of the bolts.

I misread your original post, I thought you stuck the rubber from the filter INSIDE the tube not outside. Doesn't look too bad, but I would def get a better clamp. And also get rid of the resonator box cocoa is talking about it's the tube coming up out of your bumper in the pic above

if that means what i think it means then the filter rubber is on the inside. And to me sticking on a bigger clamp would really make sense as the filter rubber would be collapsable and therefore putting more pressure on it would do much.

filter rubber is on the inside of the of the tubing not the outside! I just picked up a clamp and it secured pretty tight. but u were saying take that tubing out the one with the hole in the bottom? why so.

I am pretty sure pep boys has something to connect a cone filter to the stock intake hose. Someone at work did that to his taurus at work and said He got the attatchment from pep boys.

Just thought i should throw it at you. lol

Forgot about those. It's called an "Intake Cupping". They have all sorts of diameters.
2.5" to 2.75"
2.75" to 3"
etc...
