Question Anyone who has a 2nd car

Hey I notice a few of you have 2nd cars to keep you CL's in shape. I've wanted to do this but I don't know how bad finacially it would be. My uncle has a maxima and a beater for the winter. He only pays basic as basic can be for the beater on insurance. I think he said an extra $300 a year for it. That ain't too bad I thought.
So for those who have 2nd cars, how much more do u pay? You don't have to go indepth with insurance but just state your costs.

cheers

I'm just curious though, why would you spend more money to keep a 5-7K car nice?

some of ours are worth more than 7 k first off, secondly, because we love them. we dont look at them in terms of monitary value all the time, or "worth" of them. We do it to keep the car that we love running great and looking new. Just because a car looses its value, doesnt mean we should be careless with it, or not care about it. Call me stupid, but i spent 4500 on new paint and glass for my baby and, at that time, her book value was only 7200.

just find a beat up CRX around your neighborhood.. they usually run about 500-1500 bucks.. and thats your winter car usually you dont have to have insurance on a beater. just get liablitly.. but if u get into an accident.. your screwed..

i have a maxima for my beater, it's a 97 and it really ain't that much of a beater. i drove it before i got the cl. my insurance costs are higher than most with a second car, about 700 every six months (it's registered now as a combination vehicle and i can right off the insurance expense) but it's nicer than most peoples second vehicle. I just throw some snow's on her and she performs better than some suv's in the snow. I live and work in ny and maine so unfortunately for this snow storm it's not available(in ny). Other than insurance though the only costs are gas and oil changes, it has high miles but has been taken great care of.

I saw a subaru impreza online for like 3g's. Ain't too bad for a 4 wheel drive car and nice fuel economy.
