AEM CAI trouble.

I installed an AEM CAI in my 1998 3.0 CL. About two weeks after the install my engine would rev by itself when in idle (constantly jumping from 1500rpm to 3000rpm). Then my check engine light came on for about 4 days and went out about a week ago and never came back on. I can’t remember the code, but it was engine idle control valve. Has anyone ever heard about or had this problem before??

did you reset the ECU after installing the new intake??? that might the problem unplug the battery for like 10 minutes so that the computer can know you've installed something new.

I disconnected the battery for an hour, but it didn't make a difference.

Don't disconnect the battery, else you'll have to reset you're radio code. Just pull the ECU fuse.

I think its under the hood on the passenger side...check the inside of the lid or in the manual though.

You know that box by the passanger side under the hood, by the wind shield wipers...well therez a box with a bunch of fuses in there. I'm pretty sure thatz what he's talking about. But as to which one to pull...i couldnt tell you....just look at the diagram, it should tell you. (comes with a picture, hehe)

your inlet air temp. sensor was messin up. I dont know if you have to relocate it like you do on the V2, but when I installed my V2 and I cranked the car, it would rev from idle to 4K RPM constantly until I plugged the old IAT sensor hole with the plug provided by AEM

My car did something like that but only while cold at start up.
Took it to acura and they had a hell of a time finding the part that was bad. I got like 4 new parts for the price of the one that was broken, plus a rsx for 3 weeks

If I remember right, aem made two cai's for the accord, a longer one and a shorter one. I have the longer. The one where the tube goes down under where the airbox sits. The problem is I can't figure out how to get the plastic wheel well liner or the inlet box next to the wheel off to fit the intake filter. I've seen 2.3's with similar intakes on this site so I'm pretty sure it can be done without serious modification.
