Once you receive you new hoods...is anyone game for selling their factory hoods. I am currently in search of a regular hood for my 97 2.2...the color of my car is Primrose mist (lavender). I am in the Atlanta area...and probably won't be replacing parts on my car until late next month.

well, i got quoted $1200 for a new hood from acura painted. So if i was selling mine used, i would probably sell it for about the same price as a CF hood...so maybe you should just buy the cf hood??

 

Dude, it'd cost more than the cost of a cd hood to pay anyone a couple hundred, and get it shipped, unless you can find it local or close to atllanta.

Well...the hood is like super expensive. There aren't any places that sell that hood aftermarket. There are no salvage yards in the STATE that has the hood...I have had mechanics search for me! I don't want to pay $900 for an Acura hood for an eight year old car. Unfortunately, I rear ended someone while bending over to grab some ish that slid out of my passenger seat and totally effed it up! The guy I hit wasn't too pressed and I didn't want to file a claim!! Insurance is a mother for me...so I am trying to bargain with you guys...how much would it cost shipped??? I mean...if it is still considerably less ...it's worth it to me.

 

i was in the same situation u were in....hit someone, didnt claim it. Ive lived with my hood damaged for over a year trying to wait for hail (hail damage = free hood from insurance) or for someone to hit me, or for a hood locally in a junk yard. I finally gave up and realized this CF hood is rare, kickass, aftermarket (making the car look better) and hell, its 1/2 the price the dealer wanted.

Things to consider....shipping, if you dont find one in your area, hoods are shipped via 18 wheeler and cost might be around $100 to ship. Then consider if the hood needs to be repainted or fixed at all....

lastly.....check websites like www.car-part.com
Just like I just did…and theres IS actually 2 hoods in your state.

bottom line...$600 is CHEAP for a CF hood. Especially a custom made one from VIS with only 20 being made...

 

I wasn't hatin, I was just trying to make the point, that for the price you might wanna consider the cf hood as an option. I personally am keeping my stock hood for a winter hood. But it looks like Acura30 found some hoods near ya. Also, there are sometimes hoods on ebay, but the shiping is killer. G'luck

the "test fit/prototype" is being sent the 1st week of Sept. Then the rest will come by
mid-Sept. to early Oct.

Carlo is going to ship them all out at the same time. So basically we'll see picts of the "testfit" one the first week of Sept. and then we all will recieve ours around a month after that...

Only 4 or 5 left in this group buy, if noone buys them they are going to vendors. And after that, the price goes up significantly, and you have to order by batch, anyone else who wants one better buy it now.

 

man i cant wait. Now that im back in school, I've been seeing all these cars that look sooo nice and then i pull up with my busted ass hood...I cant wait to get this one. Hell, i just cant wait until its the end of Sept. I'll be 20, my car will be lowered, new rotors, the hood, some grafix, and a *few more suprises* (if i can get them to fit....doing research right now and its a bitch. Freakin no one makes shit for our cars so everything is *questionable* if it will work/fit or not...

But no doubt...i cant wait for the hood...its gonna be

I can't wait either, can't wait to put my hood on for a couple months. I really hate how noone makes shit for our cars either

 

You know, i was driving home lastnight and for some reason i started having wierd thoughts and....

As horrible and sad as it sounds, i realised that with all the wrecks members have been having lately, im sure someday we'll log in and the first post will be of one of us 16 posting picts of a wreck we've had, and the CF hood distroyed...

Sad to think about, but so many members have been in wrecks lately, i wonder who will be the first involved in a wreck where the hood gets broken...(hopefully its not any of us )

(Ive had ["2"] 5mph fendor benders which were both paid w/o insurance...knowing my luck, it'll probably be me who wrecks first.. )

the first hood will be here the 1st week of Sept. (it will be the "test fit" hood....the rest will be shipped to the states after that, and we should all recieve our hoods around the end of Sept.
