My 97 CL 2.2, 5 speed with 87K miles has a small vibration in 1st and 2 gear when the RPMs are below 2000. Especially in 2nd gear, at around 1.8K RPMs there is a brief vibration (sounds like plastic against plastic but probably isn't). If I keep the RPMs around 3K and slowly engage the clutch, there is no vibration.

Master cylinder and all trans fluids replaced at 85,000 miles. Mechanic says that this is a common 97 CL problem, has no effect on the drivability. I don't believe him. Anyone have an idea?

I've actually noticed the same thing, I think it sounds more like a chain type of sound maybe its a different thing? I havent a clue what it is!

Me too, i dont know what causes it i just step on the gas and rev up quicker
