I know that because of the design the 5 cylinder could never run as smooth as engines with an even number of cylinders, (I-4, v-6). It seems as though it just didn't really catch on since they could get more power and about the same fuel economy out of a v-6. I know that some European manufacturers used, and may still use a 5 cylinder engine, like Saab and I think Volvo did too.

a good reliable motor but the most retarded design of a drive train. my mechanic had one on the hoist for an oil pan.
the driveshaft goes through the oil pan to a differential then the axles go to the wheel hubs. such a PITA to work on.

yeah but on a similar note, those 94/95 legend type 2 coupes were sweet ass rides.

umm yeah...that's not gonna happen. H's are nice, but K24's are strong too. it would be a heads up race. Unless the H is seriously modded the it would have the advantage, or the K24 has a k20 head and rsx-s tranny, then its bye bye H22.

let's just say i see no reason to throw away a perfectly good motor that loves boost.
if i can't find the time to build a street buggy for it i'll probly drop mine into an EK hb.

They're reliable, sound really nice with a cold air intake (somewhat like a pissed off Integra motor) and they love to rev.
Honda originally wanted to put a 5 cylinder in the S2000 but instead put in a four.
Main issue is cost, Honda had a lot of engine designs and types going on at the time, now they've got just a few that can all share parts.
