3.0cl and obx headers

I just got finished reading the 10+ page thread about the new obx headers in the car talk forum. :o Damn that was long.

I guess most people think the obx headers for the v6 accord won't fit our 3.0cl.

Well, all you 3.0 owners get ready to find out for sure. I ordered the obx headers for my 3.0cl last night. Hopefully they'll get here next week sometime, then we'll all see if they fit.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Brave soul!

Good luck! I really hope they do fit, so that the 3.0 owners can finally get some HP increases at a reasonable price!

Good job, i'm gonna order mine once I sell my rims. They should fit, i've switched comptechs from a cl to an accord before. And Comptech even has the same part #'s down.

Not, yet.

They should be this afternoon or Friday.

ghander: Comptech lists the header #'s as:

Headers and Downpipe - s/s (3.0 CL) 220-041

AND

Headers and Downpipe - s/s (98-02 V-6 Accord) 220-042

I guess they fit ok (since you've done it), but Comptech told me no.

Also OBX did not/would not confirm that they'd fit the 3.0 CL.

Like I said, I HOPE THEY DO! OBX stands to receive a lot of orders!

yeah but someone needs to find out if OBX is going to keep the warranty for us if we install them on our 3.0's. Their original warranty says that it would be void if you install the headers on a car that they do not agree with before hand.

UPDATE:

I got the obx headers this afternoon!

Tore open the box, damn these things look sweet!!! The welds look good and they look like good quality headers. Anyone who hasn't seen them check out the sticky in the cartalk forum.

Now the bad news..... I have to work everyday until next sat. (9-28) so I don't know exactly when I'll be installing them. I'll probably try to do a little everynight after work, as long as I'm not too tired/lazy.

I'll keep everyone updated.

ANy news on it? I really want to get it, and i know our engine in the 3.0 is the same as the 98 accords. But I want to know, why it might not fit? Could the downpipe be different??

Well, Fuck!!!

Finally got the old headers off last night and tried putting the new obx headers on. The primaries fit good, then I tried the downpipes and it all went to shit. I line up the front downpipe and primary, and the rear is way off. I line up the rear downpipe and primary, and the front is way off, not to mention undernieth the car where the two downpipes come together is hitting against my oil pan!!! And.....they also don't reach all the way to the cat, about 2 in. short!!

I guess the J30 in the accord is setup quite a bit different than in the 3.0cl.

Oh well, I guess someone had to find out if they would fit or not.

That blows!

Sorry to hear that they won't fit (you must be really pissed--especially spending all of that time)!

I guess we're still at the mercy of Comptech's monopoly! :thumbsdn:

Yeah, it sucks the headers don't fit. I'll probably give it one last attempt but I know it won't work. I don't think I'll have a shop try to make them fit either. I'd rather just return them, pay my 15% restocking fee, keep saving for the comptechs, and pray that Greddy comes out with thier headers soon.

Have you sent the headers back?

I'm looking to try the install myself (and attempt some custom work).

If you still have them, what would you take for them (shipped)?

Let me know.

Thanks.

Yeah, I say save your money and between Rick and myself, we'll take them off your hands dollar for dollar. Send a copy of the final price and we'll get a shipping quote. I still have some mod money since I got my rims and tires for under a grip.

I figure to have some custom piping done and still come out far better than the grip and change those bloodsuckers at Comptech are charging!!!!!

Let either of us know what you thinnk, the cash can flow your way as soon as next week.

do not do it... you will break something doing so.. the V6 fits perfectly on 2001+ CL/TL and new V6 accord....

CLS-6 does not fit either.

Yeah, I still have the headers. I just finished taking them off and putting the stocks back on last night.

DB4:make me an offer on the headers if you want 'em, send me an email or pm and we can figure something out.

Hope it works out dust, did you check out the guys feedback? Doesnt seem too good at the moment because there have been complaints about no communication, the most recent is about him not sending out headers after 6wks of waiting. Let us know how it goes!

Damn!

That last feedback was just added tonight! It wasn't there when I check his feedback earlier.

As long as I don't loose money, I won't be too upset.
