3.0cl with a 6 speed

So check it out.....

I'm watching T.V. about a month ago. American Chopper or Monster Garage or something with motors. Anyway, a commercial for some brand of oil was showing the inards of the 6 cylinder engine. Then panned over the intake manifold and badging of the engine. It was an Acura 3.0 V6. But then it skipped to the interior of the car and... WHAM!! A 6 speed manual stick with an Acura shift knob. Then it panned over the revving gauge cluster.
Acura TSX gauges.
So the TSX has the J30 engine.... With a 6 speed.
Why not a CL with a J30 and 6 tastey gears to tear through?
What do yins think about this?

they were two different cars. the engine in the commercial was a debadged j30; the interior was of a different car. the only cars that came with that particular 'style' of engine were the 3.0 Cl and the Accord v6, neither of which came with a stick option.

i do wish our cars had a 6spd.......

That bites. I'm glad someone else saw the commercial. What a tease. I'm gonna sue those bastards for something. I don't know what but I'm gonna.

The engine WAS from a 3.0CL or Accord V6 (we have a distinctive intake maifold). No 6-speed!

I've been doing some surfing since I posted this. I reckon I found a match. In Europe they get a special treat called the Honda Accord Type-R. I'm researching it now.

I'm pretty sure it's not a v6.

Yep. NOT A V6.
What a crock. I wouldn't figure that they would use two different cars. I've been on almost every Honda site. No match. You can't even get an NSX with that combo. The J30 NSX only comes in a four speed auto.

You guys should do something about this!
Let me know when you're done.

Only thing you can do is get a brand new totalled accord v6 or cl-s and swap everything part for part including the engine, trans, ecu ect.

The NSX is a C family motor, C30x-variant.

I would take a C series engine over a J any day of the week. Thats one bad-ass engine.

the new accord has a six speed, but the valve cover on top of the engine looks different.

I'm gonna check that one out. The gauge cluster looks TSX. So does the shifter. I'm gonna investigate a bit more.
Thanks for the reply's. Has anyone seen a completed swap to a manual.

We had a 2004 Accord 3.0 6 speed in our shop yesterday. Other than the intake manifold, it's the same engine. Even the shifter area looks identical to the CL. Spacing and all. If I run into about 4 or 5 grand....
I'm so putting the 6 speed in my CL!!

You guys must need new glasses or something. The block is different all together. The exhaust manifolds are integrated into it.

If you spend that much on your 99 CL, you'd be a complete idiot. You can just buy a damn CLS-6 for a little more $$ and it'll walk all over a 3.0 6sp.
