DW drives a 2014 RDX-Tech everyday as well as our 2023 MDX-S family SUV occasionally. She had a loaner ADX-Tech for a few days while servicing her RDX and she loved it. Loved the compact size and the giant cup holder. She much preferred the driving dynamics and small size versus our MDX-S …. But she also commented “It’s just not as nice as my 11 year old RDX. It’s a little plastic-y.”
So why, Acura, are you compelled to make this a “bridge” entry-level Acura? Where’s the Type-S with premium finishes and differentiated performance? If there was a Type-S with 300+ BHP (and hopefully a traditional transmission and performance suspension) , we’d buy it. But against the premium up-level versions of Lexus NX, ADX is lacking. Is what we think. What do you think?
Not sure why Acura hasn't used this powertrain with sh-awd for a RDX Type-S first? I would also be perfectly fine with the ADX Type-S with the standard RDX 272hq/280tq 2.0T + sh-awd. I wish Acura would offer more powertrain options (more hp/tq, mpg hybrid, and power/performance sport hybrids).
