Finally, I made a decision to get new wheels and tires for my ADX. It was a long and thought filled process and I learned more about wheels and tires than I thought possible. It took me a long time just to find out the offset of the factory wheels, but I was able to get the lug nut pattern and center bore of the factory wheels fairly easy. After endless choices of aftermarket wheels and tires, I focused on wheels first.
My research led me to find out there were quite a few similar sized wheels offered on Hondas and Acuras over the years, so I was able to be conservative and limit my choices between Acura and Honda OEM or replica replacement, and that gave me an expanded choice of wheels to consider. The reason I wanted to stay with Acura or Honda wheels was because I did not want to use wheel rings for proper wheel fitment and I wanted to have the proper center cap with the chrome Acura logo. Also, I wanted gloss black with a machine finish wheel and I did not want a radical offset. In fact, I ended up choosing the exact same size wheel and tire with the only difference on the wheel was the offset - I went with a 45 offset instead of the original 50 offset. These wheels are a replica replacement form a 2016/2017 Honda Accord V6 Touring with a 45 offset.
I went to several aftermarket wheel shops and they all were in favor of a lower offset telling me the wheels would look so much better with a lower offset, which makes the wheel sit out further in the wheel well, but I did not want a wheel that would sit out further. By going with a 45 vs 50 offset, I didn't think 5mm difference would be that noticeable, then the person at Discount Tire (where i bought the tires and had them mounted on my wheels and installed) told me some cars you can tell a difference and some cars you don't. I can tell the difference in the way they sit out a bit, but I like it. Also, I ceramic coated my wheels while before they were mounted on the car; the first time I have used ceramic coating.
Then the tires - I really like Continental tires, but I wanted something different for some difference in handling - long story short I went with Pirellis. I'll run this set up for several months then switch back to my factory set and alternate as I feel.
