Maximum Width Wheels and Tires??

Anyone have any experience with what's the widest practical aftermarket wheel width and tire width?

Saw a posting where a guy with 10" wide wheels ran into clearance issues.

I don't want a set of wheels that will extend beyond the fender, but would like to get more rubber on the road, and fill the wheel well a little more.

Don't want to go to the extreme of 20" wheels.

the offset in combination with the wheel width will determine that. I can tell you i don't rub at all...anywhere - lowered, with my 20's.

I wanted to go 265/40, but choice was limited...kind of an odd dimensioned tire. Not too much variety brand to brand.

I'm certain it would fit fine.
