Conventional MDX Build

Hey All,

picked up an MDX on the weekend,

2005 mdx 275k KMS vsa tpms light on, srs engine and abs codes in system, has a broken front bumper but is in oddly really good shape otherwise, not much rust at all. 2k Canadian $. Seller said rad cracked internally and he rebuilt the trans and put new rad in a year ago. Timing belt done in 2017.

My driveway looks like an Acura dealership

exhaust leak as well.

Looking into what it needs this week.

there was also a whack of tire pressure sensor codes but thats boring

Most of the lights cleared when I ran the erase code command individually on each one,

the yellow triangle VSA light would not clear.

The solution was running the neutral relearn with the car running and the wheel straight.

see pic below

Looks like it's for CD changer, but there is an ipod and aux that can plug into it.

I will get one

My spare heat controls had one bulb out so I took the one that was completely dead apart.

Didn't have the bulb it needs in my bag of bulbs but will try.....heated seat switch bulbs I think

Tried a few other bulbs

Pulled bulbs out

Replaced with led. I tried 4 of them both ways. Not sure why didn't work.

Had these ones on hand from ebay from another car

They worked but aren't the right color. Good enough, better than being out.

Rear heat didn't work, I soldered a wire skipping the thermal cut off in the blower resistor but forgot to take a Pic. But the intake screen was full of dust and lint. Also under center console was full of seeds. 0$ repair I was very happy.

One drawback is the 05 mdx doesn't have a cassette player for an aux adapter or and aux input. Luckily it did have the option of an auxiliary CD changer accessory.

I ordered a USB and aux kit. Should be here from China in a few weeks.

Hoping to install them both into the ashtray but not an ashtray.

Got the wood gauge bezel surround

While it was out I replaced the cluster dim light and the sel reset light. The dimmer light is yellow because I stole it from the 'vtm lock on' switch of the old, not wood bezel and I didn't peel off the rubber yellow film on the bulb.

Fuel economy has been really bad. This is litres per 100km or 12 mpg. I was going to do the spark plugs myself but have to time and it's been near - 20c outside so I had the shop do them. Tech said 2 were seized and 2 were loose. The 2 that were loose had carbon on the threads that needed to be tapped and replacing the plugs fixed the ticking exhaust leak from the front. He believed they were original plugs

Economy improved, engine is quieter, more power.
