Belt squeal after UR pulley installed
I just installed the stock diameter UR crank pulley and replaced all the belts as well as the tensioner and pulley component...I used all OE equipment from the local dealership. I'm getting belt squeal on start-up only in the morning, but it is fine during the day and when driving. After doing some research, it seems I should be using the GATES belts and that should stop the squeal...am I correct?

Try spraying a bit of belt dressing on the belts. See if that fixes the problem or see if it comes back. If it does try changing the belt.

Is the torque on the new crank pulley bolt set at 181 foot pounds?
If its not on tight enough- there can be a mis-alignment of the belt and cause a noise
iirc some 03s got a new pulley and timing belt on recall- a misalignment was wearing out the belt early

I just picked up the Gates belts from NAPA, so hopefully they will take care of the problem when the're installed on Monday.

Quick update for folks you may read this thread in future...if you plan to run a UR stock size crank pulley, you MUST use the Gates belt. I was experiencing squealing, and a low rpm ticking noise with the stock size OE belt. This was after replacing the tensioner/pulley and both belts using the the Honda/Acura brand. It turns out that a brand new Gates serpentine belt is about 3/4" of an inch smaller in diameter than a brand new Honda/Acura serpentine belt. When using the UR pulley, the Honda/Acura belt (because it is longer than the Gates belt) fully extends the tensioner, causing both a low rpm ticking/rattling noise and a periodic squeal. My mistake was believing that since both brands list that model belt as the stock size replacement, that it wouldn't matter which one I used.
In my searches about this problem, it wasn't ever fully explained why the Gates belt had to be used, so hopefully this will help other folks out in the future.

We get the timing belts:

And we get the pulley belts for NST TSX kits.
If you can shoot me a belt number I can get the belt for you no problem.

I have used all gates belts and used several different UR pulleys of both OE size and under drive size on the CLS. All of them had a low RPM squeal that chirped with every firing of the cylinders especially when the AC is on after I put about 1500 miles on the belts. Each pulley was different and all have had only new belts with the pulley install. I have even tried changing the belts again. As always, in about 1500 miles the squeal comes back. It is annoying as hell. Sometimes I hear it in my sleep. Do not use belt dressing. It causes more problems in the long run. I have the UR under drive on now and it is really pissing me off. I may try a belt one size smaller than specified for the UR UD pulley. I have also replaced the entire tensioner with a new OE unit all three times I installed a different pulley. As soon as I went back to the stock pulley twice the noise was completely eliminated. The improvements with the pulley are great however.
