Wish List for 3rd Gen MDX
Wish List for 3rd Gen MDX
I know it's a little premature, but I was wondering what fellow MDXers would like to see included in the next gen. I'll start the list with LED headlights, fog lights, and DRLs.
I mentioned this in another post, but these would be my expectations for the 3G MDX:
- push-button start
- keyless/fobless entry
- dual sunroofs (glass in back row)
- 87-octane
- 20" optional wheels
- Direct injection with 87 octane fuel
- Option for 3D or 2D Navi and bring back the touch screen and keep the knob
- Put in a Navi screen like MB. The driver sees the Navi screen from their angle and the passenger sees a DVD movie playing from their angle.
- Option to sync phone contacts, addresses, and calendar events with MDX using USB drive from home computer
- Blueray option with entertainment system and/or an option to load movies onto 500GB hard drive system
- Map updates provide by on-line downloads and USB upload, enter your Navi ID code and subscription number and get updates any time for one year. This way the download only works with the system with that particular Navi code.
- Put a check box on the Navi screen to “search from current location”; I don’t need Starbucks 1,300 miles away as my 1st choice.
- Add an option to tether internet phones to the Entertainment system for folks in the back seat to surf the web on LCD screen located in the head rests.
- I would be happy with a factory installed supercharger for those who want the extra power (+50hp/+50TQ extra). Min vehicle weight added with S/C, 1 day to install at dealership or 3rd party, and full 4/50,000 warranty.
- Whip out the V-6 turbo diesel and/or mild/full hybrid engine option. Getting +22 mpgs in the city would be nice for the MDX.
- More colors; inside and out
- Economy mode for sh-awd, you can make the MDX a fwd or rwd only to save on gas. In normal driving, I only need sh-awd about .0001% of the time. I need better gas mpgs all the time.

I'm w/ you on these four, especially the nav search option. Quickly becoming my #1 pet peeve. You don't know how often I put in the name of a store like BJ's, Best Buy, Target, or Home Depot & it gives me store in every other state. I then have to find the address online in my phone & enter the street address.
Ex: I search for a Toys R US in the Seattle area, and somehow I end up with stores in Boston and New York as the top choices?

Surely Acura could offer us a software fix for this annoyance (otherwise Acura's nav is pretty awesome and user friendly).
More leg room in third row!
I'm not asking for the entire vehicle to be longer! How about being able to slide the 2nd row seats forward by 2-3 inches. Looking at other similar vehicles, MDX has significantly more leg room in 2nd row (at the expense of 3rd row
)
)
Being that I just bought one last week, and having compared to many other current cars, I would say the following (in no particular order).
1) Push button start
2) Standard remote start (the Ford Edge offers that with the Limited model)
3) I would lengthen the car by about a foot..maybe a little less, to add room behind the third row.
4) Lose all the buttons, and go to touch screen.
5) Let the ELS sound system be able to rip audio off DVDs that have surround 5.1, since DVD-A discs are hard to find, and you can't rip them to the HDD.
6) If you are going to have a panoramic roof, make it optional.
7) Make the engine able to run full time on regular gas.
8) Better overall fuel economy. Perhaps offer a 3.0 liter engine with a turbocharger.
