Painted Grill

I recently purchased a blk/blk MDX Advance. I was considering getting the grill painted to match the car. Has anyone done this or have pictures?? I have seen it done a few different ways (the entire grill painted v. just the center piece of the 2010 grill leaving the chrome logo and the silver outline), but all of the pix I have seen are on TL's. Thanks!

Try using photoshop first. It's a lot easier to remove it in photoshop than getting the paint off if you don't like it.

I've only seen the TL grilles painted or the 2007-2009 MDX grille painted, but not the new MDX's.

I think it's a good idea, I would paint the entire grille.

The MDX grill is much nicer then the TL grill. I have no problem with it.

I still prefer the unique 2007-09 grille, but the 2010 blade doesn't bother me as much as with the other Acura applications.

To give you an idea, I did a quick PS on a 2010 Advance...

Original

Full Paint (sans emblem)

Only blade painted

Thanks Type34! I like that blade painted-look... and i'm not photoshop savvy, so I appreciate the post. The dealer I purchased from said that they haven't done one on an MDX- he seemed hesitant, but I definitely want to look into that...

Not as bad as the TL. You'll be fine keeping it the way it came.

Congrats with the Advance.
I thought about painting the blade only as well. I like the monochromatic look but in this case, painting just the blade looks better.

Agree to the painted blade only. I have a Blk/Blk Advance too and I am cool w/ the default. They seemed to scale it back a bit over previously released models.

That is a nice touch, looks better on a real MDX, and in that color too. I might have them to that to my Crystal Black while they are fixing $6800 worth of hail damage,.....ahhhhhh.

IMO, MDX doesn't need a painted grille.

I think the darker colors promote too much contrast, but that grey (Polished Metal Metallic?) looks great.

Any other angles/shots to post?

Today is raining "cats and dogs" here .I will take a few pics from different angles tomorrow. I wouldn't probably had it painted if MDX was in silver (palladium). ,but on the darker shades it helps to take the edge off that beak . BTW. I had this job done in the dealership . It is Polished Metal Metallic.

Sorry to hear! You must be further South, because the hail wasn't as bad futher North.

I would like to see a white MDX with a grill done like this, AND the lower front and rear fascias painted to match.

Some like big shiny details on the cars. I am not one of them
In fact if they had some sort of "Titanium" ,"Night" (whatever they wish to call it ) packages with toned down versions of that bucktooth,it'd helped them to sell more cars of the lot .
And maybe some real wood or aluminum interior inserts as an option.
It is actually my next project. Any ideas?

A Black chrome option would be nice too like the one that was offered on the pre-MMC TL. I'm usually not a fan of too much chrome, but IMO the finish on the one offered as an option on the TL looked nice.

I prefer just the center part painted or not painted at all.
