OPDS unit will not initialize!
OPDS unit will not initialize!
Hey all! So I'm hoping someone here is familiar with this... Thanks in advance for your time! I was getting an SRS light for my '02 MDX and my mechanic tested, let me know it was a bad OPDS unit(not sensor). Easy fix. So I bought a new one(new p/n, not the old ones covered in the TSB for this problem) swapped it out, still SRS light stays on.
I checked the DTC by jumping the OBD 4 & 9 pins. It flashed code 15-1 'Faulty OPDS unit'. Well I figured that had been a saved code that needed to be erased. So I did the erasing procedure of pins in the yellow connector, out, in, out etc. Still 2 flashes and then stays on. I repeated the process twice more with same result.
Thinking this just needs to be initialized. So I run through the whole process, in brief:
-3 x 1min ignition starts/rests, no change.
-Massaging sensor areas to relieve tension
-Repeat 3 ignition cycles, no change
-Run recycled Max AC for 30min
-Repeat 3 ignition cycles, no change
-Another 30mins AC
-Repeat 3 ignition cycles, no change
-Third run of 30mins AC, seat back massage
-Repeat ignition cycles, no change
-Still flashes code 15-1
It seemingly won't initialize, but I am entirely open to it being because I'm messing something up. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't like that I didn't re-cover the unit in the plastic housing and re-attach the seat back before trying. I didn't want to go through the hassle in case it wouldn't work. If anything that should relieve tension on the sensors, no?
One detail which could be unrelated; when jumping the 4&9 pins my VTM-4 light flashes code 7-7. Slight chance it's not actually a bad PCM? VTM-4 light doesn't turn on while driving.
I'm open to suggestions and criticisms. Any ideas? Thanks all!
