New 2004 MDX Owner

Just bought a 04 MDX yesterday. I purchased a 04 TSX w/navigation a couple of weeks ago, and finished changing out my rides with the 04 MDX. The MDX was a 1 owner, who took exceptional care of the car! All scheduled maintenance services were performed at the Acura Dealer. The original owner also had a heavy duty trailer hitch installed at the dealer. Have the invoice, It knocked him back for a little over 1K! Ouch! It has the DVD entertainment package that was never used! I found the headsets and remote still in their original bags, with the batteries taped to the outside!
This MDX looks brand new for having 128K miles! Bought it for $12,500. Both my Acura's are black, with black leather interior.
Plan on checking all the belts and changing all the fluids and filters. Any suggestions on what else I should check out?

I have an 04 MDX with about 118,000 miles on it. It has been absolutely bullet proof as far as reliability. The only issue I had was two engine mounts needing to be replaced at 90K. I have serviced the vehicle regularly and did the timing belt, water pump, plugs, tensioner and radiator flush at 100K. Also needed tires so I bought a set of Kumho Road Ventures which are quiet, smooth and give me such a great "feel" for the road versus the Goodyear Wragler HP's I was running prior. Plus, they are good in the snow and great in the rain. I put new rotors and pads up front about 15K miles ago. Right now the car feels almost as good as when she was new...however I do feel something with the suspension on the left front side so that will be my next exam when due for an oil change.

Just bring it in to a good mechanic and have it looked over for suspention and engine mounts. The transmission has given some people issues so search the forums for advice and maintenance ideas before letting anybody service the trans. Good luck for many more miles of cruising...

Just had the timing belt, water pump, and the valves adjusted. They also replaced a cracked motor mount and the timing belt tensioner. I also did a 3x3 transmission fluid change. I thought I was done with servicing for a while.
Now I am experiencing a thumping sound by the right front tire area when driving around 20 miles per hour. It has happened twice so far. Sounds like something is not engaging when starting off. Could be brakes or maybe suspension? Had to pull over and shut the car down. Went away after I started off again. Also getting the famous whining noice when acelerating in D5. Going to bring back to the Honda dealer to have it checked out.

The whining usually occurs from a tight timing belt. When I had mine changed in my Prelude it whined almost like a supercharger sound. The knocking sounds like another motor mount. Almost feels as if your truck hit the curb while parking? Congrats on your Acuras and welcome to AZ...

Took the MDX to the Honda dealer today. Found out what the knocking noice was. There was a code that indicated the VSA steering angle sensor was activated. This comes on when it senses the car is slipping in a turn. The mechanic cleared the code and hopefully that problem is gone! It felt like I ran somebody over and they were flopping around in my wheel well!

Welcome to Acurazine

I had a black '08 TSX along with our black '06 MDX...what a great combo.

Congrats on the new rides. Both should serve you well.

The only other "to-do" that I don't recall being mentioned is changing the VTM-4 fuild. Especially if he had a trailer hitch, I'd make sure your rear differential fluid is flushed.
