just bought a 2004 MDX

Hi Guys,

My wife and I just picked up a 2004 MDX Touring w/ Nav Sage Brush Metallic with gray interior. It has 88k miles, 12K left on extended warranty, fender flare kit, newly installed tow package, and we have a bike rack and ski/snowboard rack for it already. We sold our 2000 TL to get this and have a 2001 Honda CRV as well. I'm loving the MDX's size and space, I'm in a wheelchair and play wheelchair basketball so I constantly have to carry two wheelchairs in the car and gear.

I've already started modding, I've only had the car for two days. I installed an iPhone integration into the oem navigation and plan on upgrading the stereo with some JL amps, Zapco CK16.2 speakers, and JL 12w6v2 I have laying around. Hopefully I can get my friend to build me a custom fiberglass enclosure where the stock sub is located at and make it flush with the 3rd row armrest. I also have my 18x8 AME FS01 +48 offset wheels from my TL and plan on getting the correct sized tires for it and put them on the MDX. I'm considering getting 15mm spacers with studs to push it flush with the fender flares. Other than what's mentioned, I plan on getting running boards, 5000k HID for the headlights, 3000k HID for the fogs, and tint for the front windows to match the rear.

Steve

Thanks! I returned the Peripheral iPod integration and got a Pioneer 7100BT deck instead. The Bose stereo sounds much better. It should be enough until I get all my stereo installed.

Clay bar'd, polished and waxed the MDX yesterday with Meguiar's Claybar, Ultimate Polish and Tech wax. No more swirls, took out most of the minor scratches and has a mirror finish. I want to get a touch up pen and clear coat pen so I can touch up 3 or 4 deep scratches.

I also ordered DDM 5000k HID's for the headlights and 3000k HID's for the fogs.

Thanks, that's not my McDonalds bag. It was there when I pulled into the parking spot.

So I wanted to see how my AME wheels would look, I think they look great! Now I just need to refinish them and get tires. I started to sand down all the curb marks (from previous owner of the wheels and do a machine/polish face on them and get the proper sized tires for them.

Thanks, wheels are 18x8 +48 offset. I wanted 20's but I don't want to loose to much MPG and have to worry about potholes and such.

18's are good. With 19's-20's, the ride becomes too stiff.

Try to not go below 50 on the sidewall. 255/55/18 should be good

I'm running 255/50/19 with 19 x 8.5" on my 2006 and they're not close to being stiff. In fact, the 2007-2009 19" factory wheel option (that look like A-Specs) ran with 255/50/19 tires.

So I wouldn't worry about 19s one bit...IMO, it's the perfect size for the 1G (20s for 2G).

I really like how your 19's look on your MDX Type34. I'll probably stick to my 18's for a while.

Did you do the exterior detail (e.g. claybar, etc.) yourself? If so, was it difficult?

Yes, I did the detail myself. It honestly not difficult, just a takes a lot of time. I borrowed my friends rotary buffer so it's easy to polish and wax. I have a very minimal amount of swirls.
