I get a squealing noise on my Acura that only lasts a second or two right after I start the ignition. Sounds like its coming from the steering or brakes. It happens particularly when the engine is cold. Is this normal? Anyone know what might be wrong?

 

Probably coming from one of your belts. May want to have them checked.

 

Thanks - I should say its more of a hum or groan and does it while in park right after ignition for a second or two.

 

I get a pretty crazy noise. I think it's coming from the starter. It's doing it on 2 of our MDX's and I've heard it on some other ones as well.

 

^BTW, it's been doing it for about the past year/20K miles or so...... It's like a screeching noise when you start the car, does it for about a second and stops. Happens more when cold than warm.

 

Several Acura owners have this problem yet no one seems to know what it is - I'm wondering if it has something to do with the brake system?

 

I'm almost positive it's the starter.

Can anyone chime in?
