About a month or two ago my 2010 (30k miles) started making this weird sound when the engine is warm. I took it into the dealership...they heard the same sound but couldn't diagnose the cause of the noise and they had not heard it from any other MDX. I was told to "monitor" it.

I made a Youtube the other day where you can hear the noise at idle. Audio gets clearer at about 0:09. Any ideas?

 

Someone on YouTube suggested that this is the MDX "belt chirp" problem. There is a TSB covering it. Will look into this. So far my MDX has been to the dealership for this, faulty battery sensor alert TSB (twice), window screeching TSB (three times). Was my MDX made on a Monday morning???

 

Hard to tell, but we had the belt tensioner pulley replaced on ours as the bearings were going. According to the service tech - it's fairly common, but we have a lot more miles on ours compared to yours.
Just a thought.

Update: timing belt tensioner TSB 08-031 done. Replaced belt, tensioner, etc. Problem solved.
