2007-2010 - MDX Things to look for?

Wife and I are looking at purchasing a 2007-2010 MDX.

We'd like the tech & entertainment package.

Are their anything we should know about these?
Any known troubles with them?

Thanks!

per wiki:

For 2008 the MDX received a new auto-dimming rearview mirror. The 2009 MDX had added more upgrades to the navigation system and there are two new colors added. The power tailgate, previously available only with the Entertainment package, is now included with Technology and Sport packages.

The 2010 MDX got a facelift, adopting Acura's new "Power Plenum" grille that debuted on its 2009 model year sedans. The most important upgrades to the 2010 model are a new 6-speed SportShift automatic transmission. An Advance package is now available that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, blind spot monitor, Active Damper Suspension, circle-see assist, Tire Pressure Activation, Blind Spot Attention, 19 inch wheels and tires, Ventilated seats and paddle shifters. Non-navigation equipped MDX models now have a rear view camera monitor located in the rear view mirror.

keep in mind the MMC was in 2010, so the front (beak) and rear had a refresh. i have an 09 tech pkg, with no major issues. i've have some little annoyances, but nothing that the dealer wasn't able to fix under warranty. the only thing would be the reflash for the tranny (kind of a soft recall-it's actually a TSB). overall solid car.

Thanks.

After spending much of the afternoon looking more into them, seems that transmission failure is hit or miss?

i dont' think that the trannies for the 2G MDX were as much of an issue as they were in the 1G (from what i've read). the torque convertor is the biggest thing that may fail hence the reflash. certainly it's not a common thing.

Thanks again.
That's comforting then.

I guess I'm just more likely to run across those that voice their issues online, I'm sure it's a minority.

FWIW, I just picked up a 2008 MDX Elite (that's Tech & Ent. pkg in Canada) and love it. No tranny problems for the 2nd gens as far as I know.

I think the wife and I have settled on a 2010/11 Advance package.
Willing to fly to get it...

Well, think we've instead opted to go for a true SUV in the Overland Summit, a 2012-3 model.

We drove them last year and loved them, a lot better bang for the buck after comparing the MDX.

Thanks guys!

Doubt I will change your mind, but one thing you should consider with any car purchase is how well it retains value. Acura's retain their value better than anything else. Just because a car's cheaper up front doesn't make it cheaper to own. Is saving a couple of thousand dollars up front worth an extra $10K depreciation over 3-5 yrs? Just something to think about.
