i doubt....i think Rodney will get 75-80% of the orders....1-2 people will say the obligatory "something came up"

But yeah a $50 deposit will be a good idea LOL...

Or at least cover the cost of being a vendor from everyone on the list if the minimum isn't met.

Until you have cash in hand, anything else is pure speculation.

^^^ nah since it comes with base maps, I bet at the least they will gain 25odd hp for the $$$ they spend....which is the second highest gaining mod along with the PCD's....the reason I put PCD's on top is coz it less than half the price....

but yeah i hope people dont pass on this....lemme ask Rodney to talk to the mods and see if he can accept deposits ($100) ?

so this way we know people are serious and it coves the Vendor cost....

I agree that not everyone will pay. I bet 8-9 out of 15 will actually follow through with this.

I take comfort in the fact that I will be one of the 8-9 people. cash is standing by in my PayPal account. I'd be happy to put down a deposit.

btw, I've been reading the ECU thread today. crazy good info in there but it needs to be condensed and highlight the important info.

I highly doubt people are signing out not knowing what the ECU does when there is an ECU thread already.

This ECU is ideally for those who have exhausted most of the NA bolt-ons available as it allows the vehicle to finally achieve optimal performance by taking full advantage of all those mods.

The additional step of having it either tuned yourself with usage of TunerStudio (which also has the ability to datalog on the street if one so chooses).
There is also an VE Analyze Live that will en essence auto-tune the vehicle for you over a few runs.
There is a lot of information available on MS3 and TunerStudio and how it works that just has to be read and understood for the end user to tune the car themselves.

Like swoosh said Rodney recommends having a professional tuner dyno and tune the vehicle accordingly.
My proposal was to create the availability of intermediate maps for those who may or may not have access to a legit tuner that's all.

It will be less than retail. The problem is no price can be announced without vendor status. From what I hear that is not cheap. For someone with business supporting multiple platforms and has that income to use they can afford it. That is different than what J&R has been up against.

yeah I know what you mean. I was on the verge of becoming a vendor for custom t-shirts, but the monthly/sign up costs made me turn my head.

J&R should have no problem becoming a vendor tho, I'm sure they have the capital to pursue these options.

Guys I think we are blowing this out of proportion....

Lets make something very very clear:

the only mods which will affect the tune is intake/exhaust (since ur Adjusting AFR)....so even if you have innovative mounts, it will NOT affect the tune....the only people i see going forward with getting a completely different tune is:
1> FI apps
2> Completely ported and polished setup (head work)

even if you have pnp-ed manifold and runners, your AFR stays the same....just that the air flows more freely....so even if you have the pulley the tune stays the same....you will make couple more HP's....

I agree having to tune this to our needs will be the end result....but i think we would be expecting tooo much if we need different tunes for every user....I bet if we head to FL and pick up the units ourselves, Rodney will be happy to help us tune on a more individual basis....

2nd i cudnt agree more with the deposit situation...but its not our/Rodney's call on it....its the mods call on it....we dont wanna break the forum rules....so we guys can work a magic number of $231.69 for deposit, but if the mods dont allow it, then no point right ?

Wanna make a list for the FL road trip ?

Stop worrying about the deposits and whether people go through with it.

If the people that actually do buy it on the list love it and make great reviews it will help them greatly. GB and/or sales from any vendor/company sole purpose it to spread the product out so they can sell more eventually. So stop worrying-- just keep spreading the wealth of information and hope they buy it. I'm sure all of you have done it anyways, including myself.

There's 14 people on the list. Rodney needs to make a decision. With the new rules in place, this thread is running the risk of being closed. Rodney has been given leeway because he is a pioneer. There is an obvious interest. I hope this happens.

Very interesting about this VE Analyzer thingy and am I understanding this correctly? That it actually helps you obtain the optimal or close to optimal tune by learning the certain air/fuel/timing/etc. parameters and adjusting accordingly as you drive???

Holy crap I was only daydreaming that such a thing would exist years ago when I was fiddling with my Cobb AP for my Civic Si...fortunately I did plenty of research and others on the 8thcivic.com helped the community by actually creating a separate website to post and exchange MAPS so the whole community could benefit... Of course I'm not saying someone has to create a whole other website for this, just mentioning the dedication of many to help the community prosper...

I, for one, am all for posting my custom maps so others with similar mods could use them and benefit. ALSO: I also am ridiculously eager for this GB to officially kick off so we can get these out and take the TL to the "Next Level"...yes, pun intended

Yes this is true. Innovative mounts, UR Pulley, Tq damper will NOT affect the tune.

Wrong. The AFR will change with PnP manifold and runners, however, it shouldn't be a drastic change. If an intake/exhaust will need a tune, so will the PnP mani/runners. More air is going into the engine just like an intake, so more fuel will be needed. Like I said, you shouldn't see a huge fluctuation in AFR, but I'm sure there will be minor tweaks that will have to be made.

I agree having to tune this to our needs will be the end result....but i think we would be expecting tooo much if we need different tunes for every user....I bet if we head to FL and pick up the units ourselves, Rodney will be happy to help us tune on a more individual basis....

Well if you think of AFR as a ratio....even if your pumping in more air, to keep that AFR the ECU will automatically pump in more fuel....

so for example if your AFR is set to 13....which is for 13 points of air, it will put in 1 point of fuel....now u bore out ur setup and put in 26 points of air, the ECU will automatically put in 2 points of fuel....you dont need to change ur MAP for that....

am I on the right track ?

Swoosh- Rodney doesn't have to PM us. Robb (astro) does not do the vendor accounts anymore as everything is routed through IB. All he or anyone has to do is click the "Advertising Information" link at the bottom of the page. Thanks.

I'd assume the stock ECU would do what it thinks is necessary (add some fuel), although it wouldn't be optimal. However, my point was that the JnR ECU will not alter its settings without the user manually adjusting them. Hence, some adjustments would have to be made.

^^^ I think he wanted to ask if he can take some deposit before signing up so that it covers the Vendor cost if in case he doesnt as many orders as he expects....

who should he PM in that case ?

Thats why we have the VE Analyzer....it will adjust the map based on your driving to get optimal tune....which i think i will be turning OFF....i dont want the JnR to act like my stock ECU....

also since the JnR is telling the stock ECU how much fuel to add....the more air would automatically result in more fuel and hence more power....

thats why you saw insane gains when a member put in 80mm TB....

Stock ECU is totally out of picture for A/F and Timing

How they trick it? Not sure

A/F is adjusted like any other, wide band reads high, add fuel, low, pull fuel

Whatever the target is on the map

Beats me

Target should be in the 12-13 range (n/a) as seen by rodney's dynos i'd assume.

It's killing me Champ, don't think it isn't. I have the FIC already so I may decide to attempt a tune myself, see how it works, then decide. OR, may sell the FIC and hopefully my Stage 2 clutch and use that money to pay this Just not sure yet, and since I don't have the money in hand currently, I didn't want to put my name up there. But don't think I'm not looking at this thread every day
