Why is the ZDX Type S listed as having 499HP? Why not 500? Is there some marketing reason behind it? maybe newer one coming out with 500+ HP? Not that I care but I just find that number odd, figuratively and literarily...

 

My guess. There are incentives and fewer regulations for electric vehicles (EVs) under 500 HP. As they say, follow the money.

 

The pre-launch press releases said 500hp. Then it launched at 499.

My guess is that it was tuned/designed for 500, then some measurement reg changed and they had to republish at 499.
