Thumbs up New ZDX Owner

Hi everyone, I love Acuras and joined this forum a few years ago when I purchased my first one. I had a CPO 2005 RL that I loved, but it was time to replace the vehicle. I was looking at a variety of different mid-size SUVs (Grand Cherokee, Touareg, X5, X6) but kept coming back to the ZDX.

Less cargo than MDX? Check.

Premium fuel required? Check.

...Seductive and unique body lines? Double check.

So today, I pulled the trigger, and I am the owner of a brand new black on black 2013 ZDX.

Looking forward to participating in this awesome community of ZDX owners here!

Congrats. Get ready to be asked a lot about your car. I had one security guard ask me if my car flies. Lol.

Sorry i cant find it on ebay anymore. Got it for $25 original honda part. Retails for around 600. There is actually a thread here about the spoiler. Here is the link https://acurazine.com/forums/zdx-326/acura-zdx-rear-deck-lid-spoiler-881268/

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited about the car. It does drive like a "Honda" (previously owned a '05 RL, brother owns a '11 Accord EX-L, mom has a '05 Pilot, many other Hondas in my history), in a great way.

I've driven about 200 miles so far, here are my initial thoughts (most pretty obvious):

Pros:
- Ride height
- Road presence
- Spirited steering (emergency-style maneuvering)
- High revs sounds nice
- Navigation screen has changed a lot since my '05 RL
- Automatic rear liftgate.
- Parking sensors / back-up camera / blind spot warning.
- The cool little storage spaces all around the car. I love the center armrest/console!
- Handsome interior, love the LED (I think) lights.
- Glass roof!

Cons (most of this is petty!):
- Could use a touch more power to make passing easier.
- Ingress / Egress - I feel like I'll put significant wear / damage on the bottom left cushion just from getting out of the car. I feel like the leather is lower grade than in my old RL.
- I didn't realize that this is only 1/2" narrower than a Tahoe! I live in downtown Seattle, the size isn't an issue, but it drives bigger than I expected.
- Gas mileage, but this was expected.
- Non lighted aluminum door sills (petty, I know).
- Automatic rear liftgate is annoying to operate when leaving vehicle. Have to turn the car off and get out of the car for this to work.
- Power side mirrors can only be folded in with the engine on.
- Leather on the dash is nice, but the buttons around the car feel lower grade.
- Wish the exterior lights were LED (even if only the tail lights).

All in all, love this car! No car is without it's compromises, and I'm happy!

Modification plans:
- Tint the front windows to match the rears (appointment on Friday).
- 3M clear bra.
- Rear mud flaps.
- A few exterior trim pieces will be painted black (plastidip first, then if I like it, something more permanent).

as for tailgate, you dont need to turn the car off, just unlock all doors and switch to park

Also, once you hit the Mirror fold button, you can turn off the car, and they will continue to fold...once they're done, hit the button again, an they will "automatically" unfold when you start the car.

I came from an '06 RL to my '13 Black\Black ZDX, and I completely agree about the seat cushion being a possible place for wearing out quickly, and not having the same quality as the RL.

Welcome to a very exclusive club!

Thanks for this helpful tip. I tried it this morning and it worked perfect. Always bothered me why a 50k car with power folding side mirrors wouldn't automatically fold and then unfold on its own.
