Gen1 ZDX Battery

Hello All,

Battery died on my ZDX this morning and looking for a better replacement. What brand battery are you’all running?

i read the handsfree link/bluetooth is a battery drainer in the ZDX (most acuras really) and i do use this feature a lot for music and work calls on the road. During my research i read You can also disable it (unplug) to minimize the impact on the battery. Does it actually work? If so where do i locate it?

thank you

i have a Duralast Platinum. I live in Florida. Its about 4 years young and no issues. I do not use the Hands free in this vehicle so cant speak to any draw.
I do run a dash cam for the last few months also without issue//

I replaced all of my vehicles' batteries with Duracell AGM in the past 2-5 months.

I expect that your experience mimics mine, where the car starts instantly on the first crank.

Was the Duracell a good fit in the ZDX battery box/hold-down, and the power rating recommended by Duracell for that model? I know OPTIMA makes a more powerful battery for its measurement size (the one recommended for the ZDX is undersized), but the next up in power would likely fit ok.

The battery pictured above fit in both the TL and the ZDX exactly the same as the batteries before them. I would've went with an Optima, as well, however Sam's Club had these Duracell ones for $200. Both vehicles start up instantly and voltages are in the 13.8-14.0 range.

Battery cable Positive Terminal

So after getting my NEW AGM battery was installed and two months later TODAY, it went bad and had it replaced under warranty.

NOW, the issue is the positive battery terminal is loose as a goose!! I’ve priced these at several Acuraparts websites and they average about $88.

my question now is, how easy is it for me to replace this myself or should i take it to a shop?

There is a temporary fix, depending on how bad the positive cable clamp is. You can install a battery post shim.

i currently have a shim on it and I’ve ordered the battery cable starter assembly. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.
