Forward Breaking Warning
Forward Breaking Warning
My wife brought our ZDS to the dealership because of some mixed up cables for the backup camera. I only drove the car once since then (just came back from travelling). On just maybe a 5 mile drive I got a red HUD saying break. I was mostly on local roads with 2-4 lanes per direction and 40-50mph limit. The light came on with no car in front of me. Initially I thought it happens due to shadows from trees but it also happened when the whole road was bathed in sunlight. Hence, I guess it's not shadows. Luckily, unlike the erratic backup emergency break (which seems better now), the car didn't slam the breaks. I am still a bit concerned, though. Has anyone else experienced this?
Nothing going forward...YET...
Going in reverse is another story altogether. The rain causes the brakes to lock up and I have to place it in forward to clear the brakes being locked. I spoke to Acura and that is how they are designed.
Too sensitive if the brakes are engaged because of the rain.

I think for peace of mind, do a vehicle-wide update. The front detection has definitely improved. It still gives false alarms, but always for a reason (shadows, car from the side or the next lane, etc.). The best part is that the car is now more gentle when it hesitates.
Prior to VWP, the car can engage AEB on false alarms like "Wowwwww... nothing." After VWP, it behaves like "What's that? Let me slow down..." and braking is either just throttle liftoff or a gentle touch of brake. The side benefit of the refined behavior is that Super Cruise handles cut-in smoother.
