My cargo light on the tailgate has three positions and the manual says it is off, door, on On my car the Door position and On position do the same thing.
It goes off when the door is closed. Is mine broken??? Please check your cars and see what it does. My light will not turn on dispite position if the tailgate is closed.

I didn't even know I had a light on the inside of the tailgate until I saw this question. Mine was set to off. I set it in both the "on" position and the middle "door" position and the light acted in the same manor either way, which was to turn off anytime the tailgate was closed. So it seems like mine works the same way yours does. It doesn't make sense as to why there are two different options since both options ("on" or "door") do the same thing.

 

@1alembic - thanks for the confirmation. I think this switch is stupid and Acura should change it. Things like this makes me think Acura is being cheap by just using a light they already had in their parts bin. Its like adding an after market part and not being integrated properly. Never saw something like this on any of my BMWs.

Maybe ill tell my service adviser its broken cause the light won't go on when put in the on position and see his explanation.

I agree. It would be interestedto know what the deaker says about it. If I have a reason to take mine in I'll ask the same question.
