Best Car for the Employed Gay
"Acura ZDX named top gay car."
Acura ZDX wins best car for the gay professional.
This year, the Best Car for the Gay Professional category has been replaced by the more general prize for the gay employed. I present the Acura ZDX for the gay that rode the Wall Street wave and came out intact (or stuffed his mattress with some extra bills) and can now ride in style.
Pass
Honda vehicles, although sturdy and dependable, have been predictable (translation: boring) when it comes to style the last few generations. Sedans, utes and trucks were ultra reliable but far from youth-inspiring or adult sexy. That is, until Accord Coupe changed the face of conservative brand. And then came the Accord Crosstour last year, badged as a "fresh take on the utility." Fresh styling indeed.
And now, with the Acura ZDX, the sexier, more refined sister of the Crosstour, the company has updated its portfolio with an impressive crossover in an environment where the vehicle, like the professional driving it, can't afford complacency.
But, can your sister-in-law's baby carrier brand really inspire performance and style? It would seem so. The ZDX boasts a 300-hp, 3.7-liter, VTEC® V-6 powertrain that demands a more aerodynamic fascia design that makes sense of Acura's ridiculous front end. Our kid with braces finally has a grill to be proud of.
Fail
Performance and refinement are what we can expect from an Acura, but the 16/23 mpg is a little sketchy, especially for a company built on engine technology. The extra Acura tech pumps an additional 500 lbs on the hops of the ZDX compared to its slimmer sister, giving it the same curb weight as cousin Honda Pilot. I'm left to wonder if Acura's fresh outlook is limited to exterior design.
Either way, like the gay employed, the ZDX got our attention. Now it's time to prove that it's flexible enough to grow in a ever-changing industry.

I drove a loner ZDX for about a week while my TL was in the shop. For a vehicle valued at 65k "That was the sticker on the loner I had" I was very unimpressed with what you got for the price.
You're lucky if you can get 16mpg driving like a grandmother.
The only think that I really liked was the 6 speed auto tranny, minus the paddle shifters...
The car is extreme waste of money!

This is a video that I took trying to top out the ZDX... Like I said about it being a space shuttle its so damn heavy that when 6th gear kicks in its not even worth the wait to see what it will do...
120mph is about all you would really have time for... "Unless you were going down hill"

I was more interested in maybe getting one to replace my MDX until I sat in one at the dealer. It road well but, as many have reported, the back is tight. But I also found its stance to be awkward in both appearance and functionality. It's not high enough to need a step up maneuver, but it's not low enough to slide or drop into the seat unless you are over 6ft. The showroom demo had a running board on it but it's totally useless. Again, the height and head clearance is both too low to use it like the running board on my MDX. It's useless on the ZDX I think.
I can't imagine how a 5' 4" woman would get into this car gracefully or even comfortably. I'll bet thats a real turn off for a lot of people. The concept isn't bad but I think they really blew it by making it sit so high. They said it was for "utility" but who's going to bring this off road or even curb hop with this car. Lets face it, people needing a utility vehicle to haul a boat or do even mild offroad driving (e.g. camp ground driving), will not be buying this car.
In the next gen, if there is one, they need to drop the suspension and it will sell much better I believe.

I did not like how it felt like I was sitting in a sports coupe (sloping roofline = poor visibility/interior room), but I was actually sitting really high up (felt high/heavy, not sporty)
I wanted to get one, but the advanced package sends the price shooting up nearly $7k, and the only thing I want from that pkg is the ventilated seats.
I foresee sales staying in the hundreds, the market for a vehicle as impractical and expensive as this is very very small.

To me, the problem with the ZDX is that it feels like they took the MDX, chopped the top off, then put a coupe-like body on top. When I sat in it a few weeks back, it felt like getting into a large coupe. I initially thought the back seat was alright, but for a vehicle of it's size, i expected better. It felt tighter than my 06 civic sedan, though it is probably as roomy than larger coupes.

BTW sorry for posting an offtopic comment on this "gay" thread. I was bouncing between a few threads and lost track of where I was. That's what happens when you get to almost 50 FML

Gay also means happy.
The ZDX is great for those who can afford it... irregardless of sexuality or nationality.
This car is actually very aggressive looking. Pictures just don't DO IT justice. No pun intended.

while we have banned people for excessive/uncessary "gay" references, the fact that the original article is focused on gay men means that the title is somewhat relevant. that was in reference to the 2nd post in the thread.
How many ZDX have even been sold? Everytime I've gone to my dealership for service I see tons of them just sitting on the lots.

Im assuming that they sell very low numbers of this vehicle.
