Anyone else going over to the RLX?

As I stated in another post, it looks like I am going to buy a RLX when it comes out next year; mainly for the new tech goodies. I was wondering if any of my fellow ZDXers are thinking about doing the same. I was really disappointed to learn my ZDX is only worth $38K now as a trade, if that. I hate to think what it will be worth in January.

I go back and forth. I have a 2005 RL and until recently I wanted a ZDX. Now I'm not sure. There are definite advantages to the ZDX, price being one of them. If only Acura would make sedans with fold-down rear seats (other than the TSX). . .

Yes, the ZDX is a fine car for hauling stuff in style, but we don't need the hauling capabilities now as I just bought a '12 Prius v 5/ATP for my wife. I will probably go with the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD model instead of the FWD only model.

Rex,
I am most likely to go to the RLX path as well.
I love my Z very much, and so far, it has no problems at all.
I bought it pre-owned and Acura throws in a 7 year wear & tear warranty on it (how cool is that? ;-)
My only concern is the same as yours: future value.
I wonder how crazy-low will it get? Because of this, the thought of exchanging it comes pretty often...
I know I shouldn't think about it and just enjoy the car.
But recently, one of the Acura dealers is 'offering' to buy the Z back for $37.5k
That puts more 'doubt' in my mind...

The other thing is, I'm looking for a 'cool' sport sedan with preferably better mileage.
The TL is very common, not so crazy about M37, the new GS350 F-Sport is pretty aggressive looking, but I just cannot love its rear and interior (or any Lexus' interior...).

I always go back to Acura,
Can't wait for the production RLX!!

It's the old supply and demand game, and the ZDX is a big loser as far as demand goes. My best guess is $35K by 2013. Yes, it's a super car for someone willing to keep it for 10+ years, and is not worried about future value. As I stated in the other thread, the ZDX might be like the Edsel 50 years down the road, but I will be long gone by then. You only live once, so I'm going with the RLX.

As a new Acura guy, let me start by saying that the RLX is sexy, but for 50-60k, I'd rather keep my CPOd ZDX, with 7yr coverage, and pick up a toy for Daddy. I may have a different opinion if I actually drove my car during the week since I work out of my house, but I still think 55k for an Acura not called NSX is too much.

That's a good point on the CPO. If my current car lasts long enough for CPO RLXs to be available, then I might think about it. Also, I have a feeling that the RLX will probably start to sell as poorly as the ZDX once the initial hoopla wears off. Maybe the new cars will be selling at close to invoice then.

Unfortunately, the ZDX is never a popular car. Thus the lower than expected trade in value.

Just wait until the ZDX will be full 3 years old. Demand on such cars will significantly increase for export to Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan (3-5 years old cars are much cheaper in customs clearance there)
