2024 ZDX EV Charging Scheduling Issues

Hi - Wondering if anyone is having issues scheduling delayed charging? I'm using the Acura Home Charging Station and car's software, not the Acura EV app. I cannot seem to get the car to consistently start charging at my scheduled time - 11PM. If I plug in before that time, sometimes charging kicks in at 11 other times before then. I'd like to figure it out because electricity with my provider is free between 11PM and 5AM. But the whole delayed charging thing seems like a buggy myth to me. Anyone else have this experience with scheduling charges?

The time you set in the car's software is not the charging start time, it is your desired charging stop time. It then starts charging at a time based on how low your battery is and how long it will take to get to your desired charge level. I have my car setup for 80% by 6:00am. I have no idea when it starts charging but it's after midnight for sure. I usually charge once I get to 50% and I'm on a 60A circuit (so charging at 48A).

Thanks, Bill. Helpful info. I guess I'll just plug in after 11PM to be sure I save the $ because I had 50% battery left, and stop time for 5AM and plugged in at 9PM and it started charging sometime after 10PM even though it said it would be done well before 5AM.

Did you also set the preferred charge time 11-5?

Of course, switched phones and my iPhone wont notify (push) that charge is completed like my Samsung phone did so monitoring is now a hassle.

The car charging controls from the settings are confusing. I watched an Acura video that states if the car thinks (feels?) there is not enough time to achieve the desired level of charge by the end time, it will start charging earlier than you set for a start in order to achieve the charging goal by the end time.

The app is useless. Randomly connects, and when it does it takes forever to send the message. I picked the car up yesterday. Drives great, lots of quirks. Never Tesla!

That's right and really what you want to ensure enuf charge (per your charging goal) when you leave.

Hello,

I tried all the combinations, whenever I plug in it starts charging right away, what could be the issue ? I am using oem acura level 2, in 240V 50A breaker.

Same setup here.

If both the completion time and preferred time of day to charge are set up correctly, the only thing i can think of is that it thinks it needs more time to charge which will then override and start sooner/right away.

You did tell your ZDX where "home" is, right?

Hello,

Yes, each time I try to set up, I click to set my home (my driveway). One thing i notice, if my car says it will be full by 3:30 am, it usuallly finishes as 2:30 am. So, i will try to set my charge window narrower next time to see if it works. What do you think ?

hello,

I re-setup everything and this time i tried with very high range (e.g. 330 km remaining). Instated of green, it set to blue as pending. You probably right, computer might have thought that it needed a longer time to charge. What i found is that, to charge up to 70 is very fast that it tricks overall charge time but between 70 to 80 is very slow.

So yesterday, my car actually didnt charge it as scheduled, i watched closely in the evening that initially the dash board(charing status) is turning to blue as schedule to change and then after a while it becomes a dark red as unable to charge. I will send the pictures in the weekend.

Mileage drop

Hello all

i have a 2024 ZDX. A-Spec dual motor AWD
at full 100% charge it says 344 miles and at 89% 282. Recently I received an email for a free tire rotation that is recommended and since then my charged miles have dropped. @80% 242 @100 300 miles.
The vehicle is 7 months old and has 6300 miles.

not sure what happened.

any ideas ?

I have 1900 miles on my A Spec AWD. Longest drive was 150 miles RT in good weather. The rest of the driving is local or 60 miles RT. Cold weather, HVAC, and anything but steady driving under 40 mph causes significant range loss. I have noted that Google Maps calculation for the arrival battery % is pretty accurate, unless I try to enjoy the brisk acceleration available. I wonder if Google uses more detailed information and/or GM/Acura give optimistic range levels to make us feel good. The Recurrent web site is overly optimistic about range loss in cold weather.

I keep my drive on normal. I don’t even use regenerative braking. That eats up so much energy. I keep track of mileage and range and charge when when im going to the office or on weekends. So I usually start a charge around 30% up to 80%. Very rarely I charge to 100%.
I still think the dealer did something when it went in for tire rotation.

Regenerative braking MAKES energy, it doesn't USE energy. Not sure where you got that from. And while you have an option to use one-pedal driving or not, you cannot completely get rid of regen braking. It IS going to happen, and it is a good thing.

Estimate range on your car is going to vary based on past driving habits. It is not going to be a static value that never changes. I routinely see 240-250 miles after an 80% charge myself.
