zaino leather treatment question

Hi Guys, just wanted to ask you about some flaking of the pigment that I have been noticing on my driver side seat and door insert. This was after I applied the zaino cleaner and conditioner. I have a 07 TL-S with 22k and the taupe interior. Sometimes I see very small pigment flakes on the door insert leather and once on the inside of the driver's back rest. I am assuming this is abnormal. Does the zaino formula take the clear coat off or cause flaking like this? I followed the instructions on the bottle.

I've used Zaino Z10 cleaner and Z9 "leather in a bottle" for a couple of years now on black interior. Havent seen any issues with black but it might not show up since its so dark. You might want to email the folks at Zaino and see what they say? Ive emailed them before and they were really good at responding. Sorry to hear your issues, hope you get it resolved.

Zaino or any other specifically formulated leather cleaner will NOT normally cause the polyurethane coating to delaminate or disintegrate.

This problem arises when the covering becomes worn thin and the product used ( this will be exasperated if it contains oils or solvents) gets between the surface and its covering causing further delamination (peeling)

Thirsty Leather

I have a camel (beige) leather interior on my TL. It is six (6) years old. I have used Zaino Leather In A Bottle every six (6) months or so since the car was new.

The leather still looks new. There are some wrinkles on the driver seat but I have seen the same sort of wrinkles on brand new Mercedes-Benz on the showroom floor.

I have never used anything else besides Zaino so I doubt that is the source of your problem. I do get very fine hairs sometimes from the perforations. I've been told that is normal. It doesn't hurt anything.

Here's a pic of my interior when it was four (4) years old:

I can also vouch for Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner!

Xpditor, it's good to see pics of your TL! That's REALLY clean-well done brother!

Thanks, Steven. I named her Condoleeza.

(Because she's black, beautiful, powerful, from the Rice family and has a space in her grille like this: /\ .)
