Why Zanio?!?

Why do you guys prefer Zanio? I have tried and am not impressed. Anything else out there worth trying?

Zaino is the best there is.
If you don’t like it, odds are you did something wrong.

What didn’t you like ???

I have purchased sal's products about three months ago. I followed his instructions to the "T"!!! I washed, clayed, wash, apply Z1, apply Z2x2. I used the PC7336 (Porter Cable) to apply Z1 to make sure I had a even coat through out the surface of the car. I use MF towels to remove all polish and wax. I have a Black vehicle so I'm looking for a superior finish. I have no swirl marks or scratches. I've call and email Sal several times. He responds by telling to re polish by hand. Nothing seems to work! What am I doing wrong?

This is what I'm getting: Lots of hazing/marring, different color blotches i.e. like spots of the paint look darker than the rest. The car is not hot at all. I'm open to all suggestions.

You could be using way too much polish. I used to use about an one ounce per coat and it seemed fine. Then, someone mentioned that he gets at lest2-3 coats out of one ounce so I tried that. It's even better when you use thinner coats. Just apply more coats.

DEFINITELY too much polish on there if that’s what happened.
And it probably wasn’t completely dry when you went to remove it.
The result would be a greasy mess and I understand your discouragement.

Orbital polishers and Zaino don’t go well together.
It’s not hard to do the car by hand.
When properly dry it comes off easier then any other WAX I’ve ever used.

PS…..Jeep4Life, If you STILL don’t like the Zaino, I’ll PayPal you a few bucks postage so you can send it to a good home.

Why can't you use a PC with Zanio? I used many products with the PC and haven't had any problems before. I find it hard to believe that the PC would make that much of a difference.

Like we said, it puts TOO MUCH product down on the car.

With most waxes this is OK, but Zaino is a polymer and should be built up with many LIGHT applications instead of one heavy one.
On the Zaino website, Sal says that the applicator alone on the buffer wheel absorbs more product then you need to do an entire car.

Did you use Dawn on the car before using Zaino? If you don't remove all the wax first, Zaino may not stick too well and it will look like crap.

And yes, do it by hand. Too much Zaino will take forever to dry and won't be as even all around. You need small amounts multiple times.

Polymer HA! Polymers has nothing to do with it. Like Zanio; Blackfire, Klasse, Nufinish, Platium, Sonus, Detailer's Pride, Meguiar's, Zymol and almost all high end liquid waxes are polymers. But using it by hand only or you only can remove this wax by using a 100% cotton towel(can I say bullsh*t! Washing w/ dawn. Do you guys actually believe that dawn is a good way to strip wax! I hope you understand that buy putting one or several coats of polish over a car that has been washed by dawn will not help. Dawn is so harsh on a car's surface that it eat through the clearcoat, dull and oxidize the paint so bad that your only option is to repaint your cars surface. You guys and your Zanio are a trip.

It will be funny that I will probably get a lot of negitive feedback! But what will be funnier is the look on all your faces when your paint is duller than SHI*T! Have fun!

Save a car...Dawn KILLS!!!

Just so everyone understands I'm not bashing zanio, I'm sure its a good wax. But you guys are like lemmings think for yourself I'm pretty sure all of you guys were born with a brain. Maybe not?

So, Dawn is bad to use before a polish and wax. What is better? Simple Green?

Any polish will remove a prior wax. By doing one coat of polish or two coats is better than dawn. Dawn has chemical that can naturally remove pigment out of any color. Has anyone never thought why they put a heavily cake dinner plate into the dishwasher and it comes out clean as a whistle. Streak free. If a soap is that strong think of what it can do to a car.

Jeep4Life,

Well, I tried to be nice and help, but it seems like you have your mind made up.

I guess I’ll go back to polishing my DULL, colorless, clearcoat free, damaged vehicle.
That is until I need to repaint it because of the abuse I’ve done to the thing.

YUP, you’re right……Not a bit of shine shows on this picture.
It almost looks like it ready to be sanded down for a repaint any day now.

Jeep4Life - I cannot figure out the point of your posts. Are you really seeking out alternatives to Zaino? You listed most of them in your rant. Are you trying to find out why Zaino didn't work for you? It seems that's been answered - you probably didn't prep your surface appropriatly (Dawn) and you applied too much product with an orbital. Are you bashing the Dawn prep? We all agree that it's a rather harsh detergent, but removing clear coat and base coat? c'mon. It's used ONCE to prep the surface and remove all the crap.

Or are you just an anti-Zaino troll?

I would suggest that you look at Autopia for further detailing answers. You'll find a lot of Zaino-heads there as well as a lot of carnauba fans.

It all comes down to what you prefer, and you seem to know the list of the quality products. I still cannot figure out what information you seek.

Oh Shawn S,

My new best friend. Tell me why does your car look sterile? Your blinding me. You need to control that mess of blue paint. Just because your car might look good by snapping a picture and posting it for all of us to see for the millionth time. Tell me how often do you work on your car?

By the way don't believe me on the dawn.

Do a search on www.msnbc.com the article was done actually by a journalist for the chicago trib paper. It made so much news I'm surprised you didn't read it already.

P.S. get some better rims for the money your wasting.

I just figured it out. You must be related to this this guy. Maybe you also started this classic thread. Are you also an Acura Professional Detailer?

OK, now I'm trolling. I'll stop here.

Hey Jeep, don't believe everything you read on the web. I guess you are the new expert on this board.

I guess I'll go back to detailing my dull, rusted auto. Don't worry I won't bore you with any more pictures.

I haven't ever tried ZAINO, but I may give it a shot once my Blackfire gets used up.

Jeep4Life, I don't see why you're attacking these guys in this thread. Shawn and NSXNEXT KNOW what they're doing and talking about. Take a trip out to PAA next year and see for yourself...

You original question does sound like you're laying the stuff on too thick. The same goes for BlackFire... A itty, bitty dab will do ya...

I replied to your Blackfire theard, FYI...

Yea, that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking when I read his first SLAM against me in his 2:45 and 3:09 PM EST posts on page ONE.

Same profile of user:
Likes to argue, doesn’t like Zaino, doesn’t like anyone who likes Zaino, works at a dealership and finally…..knows EVERYTHING there is to know about detailing cars.

No Scooter, I think he’s referring to the wheel comment by the “Jeep4Life” idiot above.
The first post on page 2.

I just dismissed it as jealousy/Flame Bait and didn’t bother to honor him with a response.
