What Wheel Cleaner is the Best??

I have Hawk HPS pads and just got new wheels with a lot of spokes. On the stock rims, the brake dust these pads spew is a nuisance but they work great so I'm keeping them. Sticking a brush between all the spokes on my rims is very tedious. Does anyone have a suggestion for a sprayon cleaner?

Jeff

Yeep I suggest you leave it in the store ... No need for a cleaner if you wash often .. on top of that no matter what they advertize they will eventually haze the clear on the wheel.

Can't be much worse to wash than these ..

you could also put a little FS UPP on them to help protect them from the brake dust.

but the best defense is keeping up with the washings

All I do to wash is I have a soft Chenelle wash mitt I use for the wheels only and I use the tail end of the car wash water. Put the mitt on your hand and poke it between every spoke then run it around the lip in both directions .. this will clean by the fake bolts.

Dry with a old soft bath towel. The pix your looking at is after running 2 summer seasons up here.

As posted above .. put a sealant on them to help..

If you don't have one .. go to WW etc and get a borrle of NuFinish liquid and put a couple of coats on .. least a day a part. Might be a PITA but well worth it.

I have seen many pro detailers use P215 cleaner for the inital cleaning, then use wheel wax to prevent buildup.

P21s is good but very mild... I would suggest surf city beyond steel - safe for all finishes yet effective

After you get them nice and clean fully seal them with duragloss 105 (duragloss calls it a polish but it is really a VERY durable sealant).

Once your wheels are sealed the dust will rinse off with either a hose or with a bucket and regular wash shampoo

So do you just wash them and wipe them down fully clean, and then apply this stuff? Is it definitely safe for the stock rim finish?

Yes ... and I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't safe .. you can use it on your fender too if ya like .. its just a very good durable sealant thats a little old school.

Its on the shelf at WW .. get the liquid.
