i use something like this
you got the following settings:
-Jet (i use this for wheels and wheel well or tough durt on panels)
-shower (used for intial weting and final rinsing)
-soaker (to fill my bucket with water)
-Flat (windows and top for car to push soap off)
-cone and mist setting (not really used on my car but great for the garden
about $8 at home depot

I definitely always use a nozzle to clean. The pressure works well to get crud off the car especially on the lower body panels, and bird crapp as well.

for washing, a nozzle works best but realistically there is little need for pressure beyond what a garden hose with a decent nozzle can supply. Most of the time even a nozzle on a hose is overkill. I was referring to the rinse cycle(s) for using no nozzle whatsoever.

You can purchase two Ultimate Stainless Steel Nozzles from Costco for $24.99. That is $5 less than you pay for one on most online detailer web sites.

I'm always breaking those cheap 5-dollar nozzles and I think I might be better off with an “indestructible” one.

The Griot's nozzle may just be too rich for my blood though.
